Our Story

Picture of Our Story
Nathan and Julie’s love story began years before they even met. Thanks to their big brothers becoming the best of friends, Nathan and Julie knew of each other at a young age. They first officially met at a friend’s get together in 2012. Julie was at her limit of being known as Kaylee or Alex’s little sister, so Nathan’s introduction of “I know your brother” didn’t do much for her. A few years later, on a night out celebrating Thanksgiving in Rochester all three Kurth kids ran into Nathan but it was Julie that couldn’t stop talking to him. Rumor has it at the end of the night Nathan asked Alex if he could ask his younger sister out. They started their relationship long distance with Nathan at Iowa State and Julie at the University of Minnesota, but made up for distance through calls, FaceTime dates, and visits. However as life has its unexpected turns, twists, and tests, when Julie went to grad school and Nathan entered the working world they decided to go their separate ways. Three years later their paths crossed again when brother Alex separately invited them both to a night out with friends. Whether or not Alex intentionally planned for them to reconnect has been highly debated over the years and never proved one way or the other. They caught up on each others’ lives and in a bold moment Julie said “I still love you,” thinking that was that. As luck would have it though, a week later Nathan was picking her up for their second first date. It took all of a few hours before Nathan turned and said “so we’re back together right?” They both knew they didn’t want to be with anyone else, and their love has grown stronger ever since. Nathan and Julie share love for many things, but nothing more than being outdoors on the water or playing cribbage on a Sunday night at Beetles. They can’t wait to begin their married life and are blessed to have such a strong group of friends and family that they are thrilled to celebrate with on their wedding day.
