The pavement will turn to dirt and you'll cross a cattleguard and there is a parking/staging area on the left after the cattleguard. Please park here to carpool if you're in need of a ride from a high clearance vehicle. There are two spots on this road that get a bit rutted and chunky, not ideal for low vehicles. Continue to follow 250 and stay right as it forks about 5 miles from Hwy 50. Stay right again at the 250A intersection and you'll see the first parking area in about 1/2 mile. Park there if you are willing to walk 10 minutes down the road to the site. Limited parking and shuttle service will be available close to the site. Gauging interest for whitewater rafting on the Arkansas - we will look into rallying our friends with boats for a mellow float from Big Bend to town (Class II). Plan is to meet at the Stone Bridge put in at 10am and float to town. Those not transporting a boat can meet at the Safeway Parking lot (northwest side) in Salida to carpool.
