Julie and Tristan met during their sophomore year of high school back 2006. A friendship matured over discussions of stocks and trading in economics class, as these things so often do, which led to the two of them dating in the fall of 2007. The relationship continued through the remainder of high school and four years of college; but alas, they were not meant to be. Julie and Tristan ultimately broke up around their college graduation in 2013 from UNH. The two went their separate ways, Julie to Virginia and then on to Colorado, and Tristan remained in New England.

A decade passed and the universe worked its magic, reconnecting them in the fall of 2022. Julie and Tristan messaged back and forth for most of the next year, until they met up once again in July of 2023, while Tristan was vacationing in Colorado. They bonded over their love of the outdoors and hiking, opting to spend a weekend together trekking up a 14er and exploring the towns of Salida and Buena Vista. It was during this weekend trip that Tristan realized he could not live without Julie in his life and that he had always loved her. Sipping a glass of wine on the rooftop of the Terrace on Main in Buena Vista, Tristan took the leap and professed his love. In shock, Julie quietly pondered this unexpected development, weighing her options as always.

It took some convincing, but ultimately, Tristan traveled back to New Hampshire with a very long-distance girlfriend.

The next several months saw Julie and Tristan traveling back and forth between New Hampshire and Colorado to visit each other. The relationship moved fast, buoyed by the 6 1/2 years of dating in high school and college, and the decision was made around Thanksgiving that Tristan would move to Colorado in May of 2024.

After a two week road trip across the country, living out of his truck, Tristan arrived in Colorado to move in with Julie. It was an adventure fitting two people into Julie’s condo, along with Lady (the dog) and Matilda (the cat), but they did indeed all fit after some rearranging. They spent a busy summer together, learning to grow into one big happy (and furry) family!

In November 2024, while attending one of Julie’s best friends’ weddings (shoutout Kelly and Justin), Tristan proposed to Julie on a beautiful fall day at the top of Old Rag in Shenandoah National Park.

In shock once again, Julie said yes!
