If You Know, You Know

This wedding is the result of a mind-blowing butterfly effect. We had known each other for several years and had seen each other frequently at volleyball events, but never spoke to each other. Tyler was seemingly very competitive and kept to himself, and Julie was the complete opposite in regards to keeping to herself; in fact, she doesn’t know how to stop talking to anyone and everyone.

Fast forward to 2021, where the two endured pretty big life changes. Amidst Tyler’s newfound freedom, he became close friends with Evan- Julie’s big brother and Tyler’s best man. Evan, at the time, was Julie’s biggest supporter in her minuscule coaching debut, and somehow conned Tyler into going to a girls high school basketball game. Tyler had no idea how much the added support actually meant, so Julie texted him that night to thank him for coming- she knew he could have done a million other fun things!

Tyler was an incredibly good sport and replied with, “No problem, it was fun! By the way, your brother told me you’re going through a hard time. I just went through something similar, and I’m happy to offer any advice needed.” The rest was history. The two had developed a premature friendship, and Julie quickly learned that Tyler has an extremely genuine heart and desire to help anyone.

Fast forward to the next few months…. The party months. These months were filled with lots of basement karaoke, incredible friends, painful belly laughter, and Fireball. Somewhere between the blurred lines, a surface level friendship developed into more. Leaving unannounced now summoned a, “Hey! Why didn’t you say goodbye?!”. At any given get-together, their seats were conveniently next to each other, and the New Years Eve Ball Drop ended with Tyler making sure he could find Julie and sneak in a kiss with no one knowing. Eventually, Bruiser “refused to let Julie drive until she was sober enough to get behind the wheel,” so Tyler and Julie had extra time to talk until enough time had passed for her safety. They like to blame Bruiser to this day for their relationship.

Tyler and Julie thought they were so sneaky, but it didn’t take long for everyone else to catch on- and I’m not sure they cared after a short while. All Julie felt was green lights on her end, and Tyler’s gleaming confidence in their newfound situation was enough for her. Julie soon told Tyler that he is her IYKYK (If You Know, You Know) person, and thank GOD he agreed and felt the same.

Tyler and Julie spent the next year with lots more basement karaoke, random kitchen twerking, beep-bopping around the house, chuckling at each other’s ADHD mannerisms, and enjoying (and one-upping) each other’s inappropriate senses of humor. Tyler decided he HAD to have this Dixie Highway girl that takes an hour to say goodbye to every person she passes in his life forever, and dropped down on one knee. Julie refuses to live the rest of her days without this competitive, optimistic, Emo music loving Ohioan. They can’t wait to spend their day with you, and hope you love Fireball, karaoke, and twerking as much as they do!
