Julie and David first met in Michigan 4th of July weekend in 2006. Julie's best friend Kasia invited Julie to go to Kasia's cousins house in Michigan for the weekend. Julie's only expectations for that weekend were to have some fun and catch a killer tan. David was invited to the same house in Michigan by his cousin Mikey. Julie and David first bonded over the weekend by sharing interest in a small kitten that was at the house. The two played with the kitten and got to know each other. For the remainder of Summer '06, Julie attempted to catch David's attention by inviting him to hang out, but unfortunately, David seemed to have a lack of interest in Julie and the two went their separate ways. The two would run into each other from time to time, either at work at Midway Airport or at a family party that Julie went to with Kasia, but the two never seemed to 'click.'
