Julissa's Story:It’s funny how sometimes the universe has a way of bringing people together, even when you least expect it. RJ and I realized that our paths might have crossed back in high school when we discovered a picture of us together, though we didn’t know it at the time. It wasn’t until later, that we truly came together, and when we did, it felt like fate. I knew from our first date that RJ was the one. It’s hard to explain, but I felt the butterflies in the same way the character from Elf does when he declares, “I’m in love, I’m in love, and I don’t care who knows it!” That was me. RJ made me feel something so special, so real, and I couldn’t wait to see where this journey would take us. RJ is everything I’ve ever wanted in a partner—and more. He’s kind, loving, and has a way of making me feel like the luckiest person in the world. Our connection is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and when he proposed, it was nothing short of magical. On January 1st, we planned to go ice skating with his family. What I didn’t know was that RJ had something much more extraordinary in mind. As we walked toward the bridge at Scissortail Park, he asked me to marry him. At first, I thought it was a joke, asking if he was serious, but then I realized he truly meant it. I said yes immediately, overwhelmed with joy. But the surprises didn’t stop there. When I turned around, I saw all our family and some of our closest friends waiting to celebrate this moment with us. It was perfect. I am beyond excited to marry RJ. Our love is something I’ve always dreamed of, and I can't wait to continue this beautiful adventure with him by my side. RJ's Story:I remember back when Julissa and I first met in downtown OKC. At that time, I can safely say neither of us expected anything more than a simple hi, and bye to happen. We planned a first date the next week and the conversation came easily. It was a simple dinner date that had been rescheduled and I am glad that we didn't just cancel on each other. On our second date about two weeks later, we went ice skating downtown. That was the date where the saying, "If I go down, we both go down" came into play. Multiple times Julissa fell and decided it was a good idea to pull on me as she went down. We laughed about it all night, and I knew at that point, this had the potential to be something really special as I knew she was a special woman. Afterward we went to eat and easily connected through deep conversations the rest of the time we hung out together. During our time together, we realized that our paths possibly crossed while we were in high school. We found a picture of me on the podium at a wrestling tournament at the school she went to. Julissa was a trophy girl who helped hand out the medals, and was in the background of the picture that I was in. Something like that is hard to deny that this moment we will share with you all in November was just a matter of time. Over the last two years it has been amazing to grow in each other, as well as both of us growing in our relationship with Christ. It was shortly after that second date when I knew that this was the woman I knew that I wanted to have a future with. Julissa is nothing short of the most caring, loving, and kind woman I have had the pleasure of getting to know. As we continue on our journey together, it excites me to know that God will only bring us closer together as long as we continue to put Christ at the forefront of our relationship. I was a happy man before I met Julissa, but after having her in my life, it has helped me feel that next level of love and happiness that you feel like would only exist in a movie. God made us for each other.
