5-7 days in Jordan

If you are planning a 5 day trip in Jordan. This is what we would recommend as an itinerary:

1) Amman (1-2 days):

a. The citadel

b. The Roman theatre

c. The Jordan Museum

d. Downtown - shopping (definitely bargain). Go to Hashem's for a cheap but delicious meal then go to Habibah Sweets to try Knafeh (a famous cheesy dessert or some lovely baklava).

e. Rainbow Street for some lovely Rooftop bars/cafes/restaurants for great food, shisha and ice ceam such as Wild Jordan, Books @ Cafe (also serves alcohol), District Urban, Shams Al Balad, Sufra

f. Turkish/Moroccan Bath An experience you do not miss. They are separated by gender. Here are some good ones: Deniz bath and spa, Gaia's cocoon, One thousand and one nights (Alf Layla Wa Layla).

Prices can range between 25-30 pounds per person

g. The boulevard - nice restaurants and shops. There is also a local wine tasting shop ( Jordan River wines).

2) The dead sea (1-2 days)

Book a nice hotel preferably a (4-5) star - Prices are very reasonable. You can book an uber or hire a car to go back and forth. It's a 40-50 minute drive from Amman. You can also rent a car.

Recommended Hotels: The Kempinski, The Hilton, The Movenpick, The Marriott

3) Petra and Wadi Rum - (3-4 )hours away from Amman down south. Petra is very close to Wadi Rum. I would recommend going there a day before the wedding due to proximity.

Petra : some people like going there for two days. Depends on how much you want to explore.

Wadi Rum: accommodation will be same as wedding venue.

7-10 days in Jordan

So if you have a bit more time in Jordan, here are some more places to visit:

1) Wadi al Mujib and lots other valley/water hiking

This is a good website that arranges trips with food provided. Prices are really cheap.

2) Madaba: About an hour's drive from Amman

It has lots of holy /historical places

a. Mount Nebo

b. St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church

c. Madaba Mosaic Map- Greek Orthodox Church

d. Church of the Apostles

3) Jordan River Baptism Site: very close to the dead sea. SO you can take a 30min detour.

4) https://www.carakale.com/

This is a lovely brewery with a great view. You can bring your food with you and enjoy a nice brew.

It's a 20min drive from Amman.

Book ahead.

5) Machaerus: where John the Baptist was allegedly beheaded. It is a short hike up to the castle with a lovely view of the dead sea. Close by there is the Jordan River foundation where it employs local woman to make beautiful wool rugs.

6) Ma'in Hot Springs and Spa: lovely place to relax and eat hot food while enjoying the hot springs.

7) Dana Biosphere Reserve: beautiful place with lots to explore from animals to landscapes.

8) Visit the ancient Greco-Roman city of Jerash: lovely roman ruins in the North of Jordan

9) Aqaba city : relax in a hotel, swim in the res sea, learn how to scuba dive, snorkel and play water games.

This is close to Petra and Wadi Rum.
