Our Wedding

On September 25, 2020, a day of golf with a friend, Judy, was in Ann's plans. As 9:00am approached, Judy received a call from Vista Ridge informing her the golf course was too wet to play on because of the recent rain, but she could reschedule to later in the afternoon.&nbsp;Of course, Ann chose a time where there wouldn't be anyone paired with them because she lacked confidence in her golf skills. At 1:00pm, Judy and Ann arrived at course and was surprised to learn they were having company because another pair booked online at the same time, last-minute. They were informed that their golf "buddies" for the afternoon were two brothers who were well-known to staff and were known to be very friendly and accommodating. To their surprise, when Judy and Ann turn around to meet their golf "buddies", they discovered they were not only brothers, but were identical twins, Justin and Jon. After introductions, Ann and Judy indicated that the twins would play their own game ahead of them and they would follow at their own leisurely pace. However, the boys kindly disagreed, explaining that Jon had often golfed with his wife, Rochelle, and his son, Jackson, who came out for the fun of the game and weren't concerned about their skills. So, off they went! The day was so fun! Justin and Ann realized they had so much in common. The boys' humour and helpful golf tips made it a very comfortable game despite the confusion and mixed-up conversations that occurred while the girls struggled trying to determine who was who more often than they would like to admit. Overall, it was a wonderful afternoon of fun and laughter. On the way home, Ann's heart was filled with joy. She laughed with Judy about the funny comments or statements made, great conversations that we had and how comfortable the afternoon turned out to be. When Ann returned home, she logged into her Facebook and, out of curiosity, searched to learn more about Justin. As it turned out, Justin, too, was doing the same thing, searching to learn more about Ann. They quickly learned that they had several mutual friends, lived in the same area of town and, in fact, they were both supposed to attend wedding of mutual friends that had to be rescheduled because of COVID. Who would believe that two people were scheduled to meet at a wedding of mutual friends three months prior, but would, because of rain, meet on a golf course just because rain rescheduled their tee-time. Some suggest it was fate that brought them together. They do, too. Ann and Justin chatted endlessly and began to hang out more and more. They were both the same age, shared friends and shared the same attitudes toward family relationships. They both had an adorable child, both were comfortable in their careers, and both liked socializing with family and friends. Soon, they were seeing each other more and more. Their relationship bloomed and after four years they still love to golf, travel, and do things together, especially when they can include their children, Leddi and JT. So, here they are! After being together for those years, Ann and Justin have decided, with all of you by their side, to share the same name as they move ahead in their lives. They couldn't be happier.

Q: Are you having a bachelor/barchelorette party prior to your wedding?A: Yes, these gatherings will occur in Newfoundland a few days prior to the wedding. Ann plans to have hers at Trina's (Bridesmaid) cottage on Grand Lake. Justin plans on a golfing adventure although we have heard his grooms crew may have other plans in mind so brace yourself. Details to follow for those interested. Q: Are the accommodations far from the venue?A: All accommodations are within 10km from Marble Mountain. Details are listed under the "Accommodations" tab. Please keep in mind that some of these venues have a 2 night stay minimum. Justin and I as well as a few others are at the Villa Thursday. Friday and Saturday night but if you are booking 2 nights, please ensure its Friday and Saturday. Not to worry, Friday will be fun as well, I promise. Q: Can we bring a guest?A: Unless your guest is listed on the invite, No! We have very limited space, and we are trying to accommodate our guests only at this time. We also, ask that you do not substitute any names on the guest list if someone listed cannot come. Q: Are kids invited?A: The children that will be present are the kids of the Bridal party and some of the cousins/nieces of the Bride and Groom. Their names have been listed on RSVP. Although we love your children, we regretfully cannot accommodate them at the venue due to restricted numbers.&nbsp;We hope you will see this as an opportunity to have a date night.&nbsp;Let your hair down and enjoy your time away to party with us. Q: What can we do between the ceremony and reception?A: There are plenty of things to do in the area that we have noted in the "Things to do" tab. There is also a Tavern at the venue you can gather to eat and/or drink, lawn games available and potentially live entertainment from our talented family and friends while the bridal party are off getting photos done. Q: Where do we sit when we arrive at the venue for the reception.A: There will be a seating chart created. Once finalized, you will notice that you are sitting with people you know but our hopes is for everyone to know each other at the end of the night. There will be a kid's corner where children can gather after supper. Q: How can we occupy children.A: We have several things for kids to do (coloring, games, puzzles) and there is also internet access for iPads but please be sure you bring headsets to avoid noise through the speeches. Q: Can we bring our own food:A: No! There will be treat bags for the kids including snacks and things to occupy them during speeches. Anyone with littles that require milk, formula, baby food, toddler snacks, this has been approved to support the needs of your child. If you are breastfeeding, please feel free to do so wherever you are comfortable. Q: What if we are vegetarian or vegan?A: Not to worry, you will be accommodated. We have ordered things for you as well. A: What if there are food allergies?Q: Please let me know in advance. Our meal were decided knowing allergies could be a factor. I have notified the kitchen about tree nut allergies as I know specific guest with severe allergies. Q: What if we get hungry in the late evening?A: We have you covered. There will be a poutine bar opening up in the late evening that will be available if you wish. Being late, if you drip gravy on your clothes, it's no big deal (ha,ha). We have signed a contract ensuring no food from the reception be removed from the building for liability reasons so please eat LOTS for supper and before you go home. Q: Can we bring our own alcohol?A: Hard No! We have signed a contract specifically stating that there will be no food or drinks brought into or out of the venue. In fact, if there is anyone caught drinking outside or around the venue there is a fine to pay and the wedding gets shut down so, PLEASE respect us in following the contract rules. There will be a list of drinks at discounted rate for the wedding and there is a bride and groom shot that is even cheaper. Groom Shot - Jägermeister (tastes like black liquorice with a tangy kick)Bride Shot - Butter Ripple (tastes like butterscotch) Popping out to your room or someone else's for additional drinks is acceptable if you choose too but please wait until after speeches and be sure to get back for dancing. Q: How can we get back to our accommodations that are not within walking distance if we have drinks at the wedding?A: There are taxis in the area as well as shuttle services provided from some of the accommodations. We also have the ability for some of the nondrinkers to be designated drivers if need be. Q: What can we get for the happy couple?A: Cards are Ann's favorite thing. Money/gift cards if you choose to gift but no obligation. Household items are not necessary as we have all the things we need and also keeping in mind we have to travel back to Alberta with limited room. Q: Why was there a letter included in some invites and not other?A: The short answer is Leddi lol we had printed for all of those that were having to travel but most of the invites given in Newfoundland did not receive them. Leddi put them in all Fort McMurray's invites and some that were mailed. Technically everyone should have received one. I apologize for any confusion. My heart was in the right place and didn't want anyone feeling guilty if they couldn't make it for various reasons and we would understand completely but super excited for those that can make it xo Q: What if I have any other questions?A: No problem! We are located at the base of Marble Mountain Resort with options to dine inside or outside on our large, licensed dining patio featuring world class smoked meats from tasty appetizers to hearty entrees, as well as signature drinks and beer on tap. Bishop's Tavern & Smokehouse

Marble Zip Tours offers a zip line experience like no other in eastern Canada. It's a cross between parachuting and flying, and an adrenaline rush is promised that can only be felt, not described. Experiencing zip lining like never before with and adventure that starts at the top of Steady Brook falls. You'll fly across nine zip lines that are up to 2000 feet long and 285 feet high at speeds reaching 30 kilometres an hour. Each zip line is different, offering unique but equally gorgeous aerial views of the Humber Valley. The friendly guides will happily capture these unique moments, and there will be time to pause at the various decks or “launching pads” to enjoy the breathtaking views throughout the course. While on a zip line, you will feel the adrenaline pump through your veins as you zigzag across the colossal gorge and indulge in the breathtaking views of Marble Mountain. Marble Zip - Spider Challenge

The Spider Challenge is a three-storey high ropes course or obstacle course and the newest addition to the growing list of adventure activities at Marble Zip Tours! Located at the base of Marble Mountain and visible from the nearby Trans-Canada Highway, the Spider Challenge delivers an escalating thrill that increases in intensity with each vertical level you reach. Each level comprises of several poles or trees that are connected by different acrobatic elements. In the obstacle course participants independently run a variety of trails. Sometimes referred to as a high ropes course or an adventure park, the Spider Challenge dares you to rise above your limits as you advance through each fun and daring obstacle. Marble Mountain is now offering summer rides on its Lightning Express chairlift, taking riders up the hill&nbsp;to a newly built hilltop viewing platform. The chairlift, usually the speediest of the resort's three, runs at half speed for the summer rides. The idea is to enjoy the ride for its&nbsp;scenery and views, rather than just getting to the top. It takes about 15 minutes each way. Beer is welcomed on the lifts&nbsp;as per a special allowance by the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation. The view from the top is world class, so grab your cameras and binoculars, these views won't last long! Pricing &amp; Details$35 a person all day rides or $99 for a full seat of 4 people. Lightning Express Chairlift

Steady Brook Falls is one of the Humber Valley’s most scenic features and can be seen up close by following a trail that is 1.6 kilometres, which begins just behind George’s Mountain Village, at the base of Marble Mountain. The falls tumble over 100 feet and is particularly spectacular after heavy rain or during the winter snow melt in the spring. Use the trail carefully, and please follow the trail. As you approach the top of the trail, a viewing platform will provide you with spectacular views. No Booking Required

The Heritage Tree is located at the entrance to Marble Mountain. Sixty scenes from Newfoundland and Labrador’s history are carved by local artists into this 52 feet high, 4.5 foot wide, 9 ton, 360-year-old cedar tree from British Columbia is a phenomenal work of art, Images commemorate fifty years as a Province of Canada. Experience the Humber Valley by traveling around Marble Mountain in a five passenger ATV, looking up and down some of Marble's steeper runs. Go beyond the chairlift to the summit of Mount Musgrave at 1791 ft (546m) above sea level you will be almost 3/4 of the height of Gros Morne and you did not get beat out getting here. Hiking is not for everyone. Look over the barrens and try and spot a moose, caribou, or black bear from the 360-degree view where Environment Canada's Doppler weather radar is located.&nbsp;Tour duration 1.5 hrs.
