Justin and Meghan met at Grace Church on June 5th, 2022. Meghan graduated college in May of 2022 and decided that she was going to go out to Nevada to visit her older sister for the summer. Meghan landed in Reno on a Thursday night and attended church with Lauren that following Sunday. That same evening Grace Church was holding a young adults function following service. Justin attended the young adult social for the first time in over a year on the same night. Justin spoke to Meghan at the end of the night and then they became friends shortly after.
God allowed our paths to cross that day and in that moment he gifted us one of the greatest gifts he could have.
We both still attend, serve, and call Grace Church home. It will always symbolize the beginning for us and somewhere we've made some of our favorite memories together.
After meeting and getting to know one another throughout the summer, Justin and Meghan gravitated into the same friend group. They both and a group of friends from church planned a trip to Hawaii in mid October of 2022. That trip was a huge turning point for their relationship, they made memories that will last forever. On the last night of the trip all the girls were given a flower to put in their hair. In Hawaiian culture, if you wear a flower behind your left ear you are married and/or unavailable, and if on the right then you are "looking for love". That night Meghan made a decision to wear her flower on the left side and be sure that Justin knew where she stood in their relationship and that was the start of their "official" dating season!
On September 24th, 2023 Justin went above and beyond to propose to Meghan in the most thoughtful, endearing, and loving way.
Justin had orchestrated a "fake" photo shoot for the couple with the help of their favorite photographers. Meghan thought she had entered a photoshoot giveaway on Instagram and that they had coincidentally won it.
The two headed up to Tahoe that evening to meet the photographers at a pier on Lake Tahoe where Meghan soon found out that a proposal was set up for her.
After Justin proposed and Meghan had said yes (of course), a beautiful charter boat pulled up to the dock. The surprises didn't stop there! Justin had Meghan's family and childhood best friend fly all the way from West Virginia to be there for this memorable moment. They all took a breathtaking boat ride back to North Tahoe Marina and further celebrated the newly engaged couple. Needless to say, Justin made sure it was nothing short of a dream!
God has shown up and refined us in so many ways in this season of engagement. He has provided new opportunities, new friendships, and new revelations so us both. Earlier this year, God put a calling on Justin's life to go into firefighting. He will attend EMT school in the summer and will apply to the fire academy in the Fall of 2024. We plan to stay in Reno, NV and rent a house for the next couple of years before moving to the East Coast to be closer to family. We are expectant that God will continue to move in and through our lives and we are ready for what He has in the years to come!
