Our Story

Jess and Loke met working at a dance studio in 2024.  They quickly became good friends and would frequently get ice cream together to yap after classes. Loke is a truly critical pieces of Jess's support system, and is always there to lend an ear or fight someone. Jess could not treasure their friendship more. Loke was one of Jess's first close friends in Washington, and has helped Jess find a community in Bellingham. Jess could not imagine her life in WA without Loke, and loves their yapping, crafting, and Dr. Pepper enjoying. A fun fact about Loke is that she owns a real labubu, however it is not 24k gold... She also plays rugby and is classically trained in Polynesian dance!

Rebecca is one of Jess's older sisters, and one of her most trusted friends. Growing up, one of the most special things in their relationship was when Rebecca would read Tacky the Penguin to Jess when she was sick. Rebecca was always the best at doing the voices. As adults, they have been able to vent and lean on each other in times of need, and support each other in their victories. Jess is honored to have Rebecca as a sister and is so grateful to have her as part of this wedding! A fun fact about Rebecca is that she has ridden her bike across the entire state of Iowa!

Kelsi is Jess's oldest sibling and has been there for Jess since day 1. Growing up Kelsi and Jess would frequently watch Barbie movies together and paint their nails, and that time together was always very special to Jess.  Kelsi is always happy to lend a hand or an ear where she can and is always encouraging Jess when she needs it. Jess is proud to call Kelsi her sister and is happy they get to be in their bridal era together. A fun fact about Kelsi is that she has known Jess for her entire life, Jess however has only known Kelsi for most of her life. Kelsi is also the proud owner of two sweet black cats, Pepper and Fuzzball!

Kelsi Whitesell

Jess and Sammie met in middle school and bonded over their love of books and their antisocial tendencies. They attended all high school dances together and have known each other longer than they haven't. Even as adults who only see each other a few times a year, Jess knows that Sammie is always there for her and always will be. Jess also truly believes herself to be the third Tam twin. A fun fact about Sammie is that she does not have a dog, despite convincing everyone she did as part of an elaborate April fools prank... She also has a bachelors in biochemistry and works in a lab doing cancer research and tissue sample testing!

Jess and Ellie met in middle school and bonded over their love of books and their hatred of PE class and those who enjoyed it. Ellie was the final part to the dynamic Tam trio with Sammie and their other identical twin Jess. Despite their middle school agreement that if they were not married by 30 she and Jess would get married, Ellie is still choosing to be a part of this wedding. Jess knows that she can always turn to Ellie for a laugh, a hug, or an insult. She is truly a lifelong friend. A fun fact about Ellie is that she is also applying for med school on her way to becoming an amazing doctor!

Ellie Tam

Jess and Maddie met at the climbing gym in Bellingham when their significant others were projecting the same route and got to talking. Their friendship as climbing buddies quickly expanded outside of the gym as they bonded over their love of spooky stories, science, and crafts. Maddie is one of the best listeners and advice givers Jess knows, and is always supportive of Jess and her goals. Jess finds Maddie's drive, compassion, and confidence extremely inspiring and is so grateful for their friendship. A fun fact about Maddie is that she knows much more about mosquitos than the average person... She is also an insanely strong swimmer, like Olympic level strong.

Vickie and Jess met while Justin and Vickie were going through engineering school together. However, they became closer friends in Washington as Vickie was the first friend Jess had outside of Justin in Bellingham. Together with their husbands (or soon to be in Jess's case) Jess and Vickie have built a variety of traditions during their time in Bellingham. The four enjoy Thanksgivings together, pumpkin carving at Halloween, frequent game nights, and more. Without Vickie in her life, Jess would have felt a lot more lost in Bellingham. Jess finds Vickie's independence and adventurous spirit extremely inspiring and loves the adventures they get to share. A fun fact about Vickie is that she has picked up a hitchhiker - it was a mouse... She has also climbed many 14ers in Colorado!

Jess and Cam met on a double date with Justin and Cam's boyfriend Vince. They quickly bonded over their love of crafting, exploring the outdoors, and generally collecting niche hobbies. Jess adores their friendship, and knows that she can always look to Cam for crafting advice and inspiration, or to share a wonderful adventure. A fun fact about Cam is that she has competed in the highest level cosplay contest at Emerald City Comicon... She is also getting her masters in costume tech while working on becoming a professional pilot!

<p>Samara Farm is in Acme WA, around 25 miles from downtown Bellingham. While this is around a 30-40 minute drive, there are the most options for places to stay in Bellingham. If at all possible, we are hoping to organize some carpooling to limit how much everyone has to drive. If you would like to camp, there is space for a few RVs (no hookups) and campsites for tent camping at the venue. Please indicate on your RSVP if you intend to camp onsite. If you have questions or would like help finding somewhere to stay, do not hesitate to contact Jess or Justin for help!</p>

Getting to Bellingham

<p>Bellingham is around 100 miles north of Sea-Tac international airport. On a good day, the drive to Bellingham is around 2-3 hours. It is extremely beautiful, but a long time in a car. If you do rent a car and are driving while there is still some light, we recommend taking Chuckanut Drive for some spectacular scenery. If you do not plan on renting a car, there is a shuttle that travels between Bellingham airport and Sea-tac, at $54 for a one way adult ticket. Alaska airlines also flies from Sea-Tac to Bellingham at varying prices. If you have any questions or need any help finding a way to Bellingham, do not hesitate to ask Jess or Justin.</p>
