Tell me more about the wedding!
We are having a MICROWEDDING this year! After over 10 years of dating, and so many family and life events happening throughout that, we realized we didn't want to wait any longer to make it official. However, between medical school and dental school, as well as everything else going on, we knew we couldn't pull off a big party for several years (at LEAST until we graduate). SO, we're doing this now! It's a small wedding, but there's a LOT of love to celebrate. We might be able to only include immediate family and close friends, but we can't wait to celebrate with EVERYONE we love together in the future! If you know us, then you know that we never do things the "normal" or expected way, so naturally, this is on brand for us.
Can I come to both the ceremony and reception?
Our ceremony is open to any family and friends who would like to attend, but all other wedding events this weekend are invitation only (as designated on physical invitations, please sign in to RSVP for more details) -- thank you so much for understanding ♥ We apologize so much for not being able to include everyone, but want to emphasize that we will be holding a larger, traditional wedding/vow renewal (technically) upon graduating from our doctorate programs in a few years! We can't wait to host everyone then!
What are the logistics? Parking?
Our ceremony will begin (hopefully) on time at 5:30pm. We ask that guests begin to arrive around 4:30pm or so -- we'll have pre-ceremony activites to keep you occupied like our guest book, cornhole, games, and more. All guests can self-park either on the first floor lot at FUSION Resort, or in their overflow lot right across the street (signs posted on-site).
When do I need to RSVP by?
Truthfully, we need to know as soon as you know. We know it's a tight timeline and we do apologize! However, we will need to give final counts to our venue and caterer so we are prepared to host everyone. Please let us know even if you CANNOT attend! We believe our final deadline is during the last week of March, but do NOT wait that long to tell us please ☻ For your convenience, all RSVPs can be done online HERE on our website! Let Justine or Brandon know if you have any issues.
What is the dress code?
Beachy/tropical semi-formal attire! ☻ Our color scheme is blue, pink, and orange, inspired by the bright, beautiful colors of the Greek Isles with a little Florida orange twist. Feel free to dress in these bright hues too if you want to! We want everyone to look great but more importantly, be comfortable and feel their best.
Both the ceremony and reception dinner are OUTDOORS. Please keep in mind that it will be April and we will be in Florida -- hopefully we will have a nice breeze being right on the water, but prepare for warm weather! Also, though we are going to be near the beach, the ceremony is entirely on land, so no need to worry about sand!
Can I bring a date? Kids?
As a gentle reminder, this wedding specifically is intentionally small and intimate, and we would love to celebrate with everyone possible. Due to space limitations, we cannot accommodate any additional guests other than those specifically noted by name on your invitation.
Can I take pictures during your ceremony?
No. Please respect this wish! We are having an unplugged ceremony and would love for everyone to be present in the moment with us. We will have a professional photographer and videographer present to capture all the festivities so you won't miss a thing later!
Where should we stay?
We would love it if everyone, even those from the Tampa area, stayed with us at Fusion! We were able to secure a discounted rate for everyone (more information on the Travel page). There's enough room for everyone, and this way, we can celebrate together all weekend long. Plus, by staying there, the whole event will be a one-stop shop for you -- the entire wedding will take place there, and we'll be getting transportation to/from Downtown St. Pete for our "afterparty" after the reception too. We want everyone to be safe and have a great time!
If you can't stay at Fusion, then we suggest local AirBNBs and hotels in the Treasure Island area.
Will there be food served at the reception?
YES! At our reception, we will have dinner and dessert. If you have a food allergy or dietary restriction, we probably know about it, but we would GREATLY appreciate if you left us a reminder when you RSVP in the notes so we can make sure our caterer and baker knows. We will make sure that there is a meal available for you!
What about alcohol?
For years, the two of us have always said we would never disrespect our family and friends by getting married without an open bar, and we meant it! The drinks are on us, the hangover is on you, but the memories are forever! (Please drink responsibly ♥)
There will also be a full assortment of non-alcoholic beverages available too!
Will there be dancing at the reception?
Sort of. We aren't sure there's going to be a ton of space for that, unfortunately. We did not hire a DJ, but we will have a playlist going! However, the dancing and fun will take place at our AFTERPARTY! We will be renting a party bus to take us from the resort to Downtown St. Pete to go bar-hopping. Please sign into your RSVP and let us know if you're coming to that so we can make sure we have enough seats for everyone.
How can I share pictures from the night with you? Do you have a wedding hashtag?
Our wedding hashtag is #TimeForRaisins (if you know, you know)!
Please feel free to upload pictures to social media with our hashtag AND tag us so that we may be able to see them! We'll likely be sending out a Google Drive folder for everyone to upload photos to as well.
Is there a rehearsal dinner or anything?
At this time, we have no formal plans for a rehearsal dinner. As we get a little closer to the wedding, we might plan an informal gathering at a restaurant or bar near the venue for the night before the wedding, but we don't plan to host anything otherwise.
Do you have a gift registry anywhere?
We cannot stress enough that your presence is the only present we need. We would love a card or note! However, if you feel so inclined, we have a registry tab here on our website with a wishlist of upgrades and gadgets we've been pining after for a while.
You guys got engaged only a few months ago -- why are you rushing to get married so quickly?
Honestly, after being together for more than a decade, it feels like we're already married at this point, and in some ways, nothing is going to change after this. However, we've been together for more than a decade! There's so much love between us that we don't want to wait any longer to make it official anymore. Additionally, as you may know, we have some family members who we want to make sure get to be here for our special day while we all have the opportunity to. Life is short and when you love someone, you should cherish every opportunity to make memories together -- that's our philosophy anyway. There's time later to throw the big party with all the bells and whistles, but we need to do this now with our loved ones.
If we missed anything, or if you have more questions, please reach out to Justine and Brandon!
