Things to Do

The Area

Rockville is only 20 miles from Washington, D.C., so we know many of you visiting may want to extend your stay to explore what D.C. has to offer. Here, we will attempt to list all the recommendations, tips, and tricks that we have discovered over the years.

For a quick reference, Washingtonian Magazine published an article about the best way to spend three days in D.C. There are definitely some gems, including immersive art experiences at Artechouse, dinner at Daikaya, and night tours of the monuments. But there is so much more. Not to mention the amazing food, theatre and other experiences out here in Montgomery County.

MORE TO COME!

The Food

Asian Food

Washingtonian Magazine once dubbed Rockville as the "New China Town". There are a boatload of AMAZING Asian restaurants that can be found in Rockville alone: Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Chinese BBQ, Korean BBQ, Dim Sum, Noodles, Sushi, Donburi, Hot Pot, Ramen. I could go on. If you are looking for some great Asian Food, here are our recommendations:

Bob's Shanghai 66- Soup Dumplings, anyone?

Akira Izakaya- Favorite ramen broth, hands down.

Pho Nom Nom- "Nom Nom" indeed

Maki-Ramen, izakaya, donburi & sushi. Conveniently next to Pho Nom Nom.

Hwa Gae Jang Tuh- Are there fancier places for Korean BBQ? Yes. But this one has been around forever and is delicious.

Bangkok Garden- One of two fave Thai

Kim Imm Thai- Two of two fave Thai

Latin & Hispanic Food

Did we mention that Rockville is the 15th most diverse city in America? It's also right beside numbers 1, 2 and 3 on that list. (Germantown, Silver Spring, and Gaithersburg, respectively). Check back for recommendations.

Gilly's

The place where it all started. This place is home and you will see many of the "Gillians" at the wedding. If you live outside of MoCo, show this local deli, beer and wine place some love. You can't go wrong with a Chief Beef, Ghost Pepper Grilled Cheese or a Bacon Berry Brie sandwich. The MD beer selection is also incredible.
