A Tale of Two Managers

KACIE’S VERSION:

Early 2019, Jacob was working trivia nights at Highmark Brewery, and Kacie and longtime trivia partner Bethany were looking for a new spot for their weekly trivia outing. The cute bartender started buying her beers (Highmark doesn’t serve wine, that’s how much Kacie loves trivia), and after finding out she worked at a local coffee shop, he began finding his way in there more often. After a week or two Jacob gave Kacie his number while at Agora (with help facilitated by mutual friend Heather), and made her do the dirty work of texting him first. Their first date was January 20, 2019, lunch at Spencer Devon Brewing Company. Kacie was intrigued and took great pleasure in paying for her portion of lunch, much to Jacob’s chagrin. She thought that he wasn’t too interested and was prepared to part ways, when he mentioned he would be heading to J. Brian’s to watch a football game and asked if she would like to join. It was during that next three hours sitting in a dark bar (where Kacie’s trivia journey had started in the first place almost a year prior) when she felt the spark. January 20th would become their anniversary, and now wedding ceremony date <3

JACOB’S VERSION:

An introvert walks into an extrovert’s bar. Not many words exchanged, but the eyes are telling their own story. Of all things, trivia begins as the hero of this story. Without trivia, there would not be a draw for the introvert to return to said bar, considering the lack of wine options.. just beer. A few trivia nights pass, and the extrovert decides to frequent the introvert’s coffee shop more often. Again, not many words being said, however the passing exchanges and glances become more intimate and warm. Jacob decided to make the first move, surprise right? Kacie had this phone number and had to make a decision what to do with it. No surprise to Jacob, he got a text. That text turned into a first date, a brewery that serves wine, a compromise was made. The date turned into an all day affair, and the flame continued to be kindled. Over four years of breathing into the fire included: moving in together, adopting two cats, many Charleston trips, pinball love and frustrations, all of the hugs and kisses, hard conversations and compromises, and the easy decision to spend the rest of our lives together.
