Our Story started in two countries on either side of the world when Kaelynn (In Marine Reach New Zealand) and I (Surviving Covid in Canada) decided to see what God could do with our lives if we just let him. Looking back now, there is no way we could've guessed this would happen, and none of it went according to plan, but regardless, we are overjoyed and blessed to have met our best friends for life.
God's plan, not ours, is the best way to describe our dating experience. Even on our FIRST DATE, Kaelynn met my parents and learned way too much about me. There was a summer when Kaelynn was called away to Hawaii for months. We found our careers in this relationship, and I was called away to study in New Zealand for much of our engagement. God has taken every moment to teach and nurture us into adulthood. Whether that was through opportunities, each other, or family and friends, though it was sometimes painful, we are eternally grateful for this path.
It hasn't been easy, and I don't think any relationship can be called that. But it has been filled with the tiny moments of laughing together, a hug here or there, and perhaps a kiss. Romantic moments in random places and beautiful ones, Moments where both of us have committed to love one another. This is the most significant promise of all. We have learned the many meanings of "I love you" and the benefits and pains of time apart. How bittersweet saying "I miss you" is and how it makes seeing the one you love all the sweeter.
When you come to share this moment with us, think of how you met us and where we are now. Say a prayer for us. And know that God's plan is better than anything you ask him for.
