Kaila works at the liquor store Lucas would visit on his way to his parents. He would grab beef sticks for the drive up. Lucas didn't know Kaila's name and often referred to her as the beef stick lady.

Lucas got his haircut at the local barber shop, he later found out that that was her mom. In conversation, she told him "you should meet my daughter." not knowing they had already known each other. Later that evening he reached out to Kaila.
