It all began in kindergarten at St. Christopher in Vandalia, Ohio, where Kailee Tateman and Gary Hess first crossed paths. Little did they know that their journey would take years to unfold. Although they shared those early school days, it wasn’t until 6th grade that they really became friends, hanging out with the same friend group and getting to know each other better.

By 8th grade, Kailee had developed a crush on Gary, but Gary—always “too busy” with other things—didn’t quite notice yet. Life took them on different paths after high school, with both attending separate schools and eventually colleges, leading to a period of time when they lost touch.

Fast forward to 2023—Kailee, feeling the spark of curiosity and something more, decided to take matters into her own hands and ask Gary out for a drink. That’s right, she had to make the first move after all these years. (Turns out, Gary was just waiting for the right time…). From that moment on, everything clicked. Their bond rekindled, and the love story began in earnest.

Kailee and Gary quickly discovered they shared not only a love for animals but also a deep appreciation for family, good times, and the joys of board and video games. It wasn’t long before they knew that they were meant to be together.

On June 17, 2024, during a family vacation in Siesta Key, Florida, Gary asked Kailee to be his forever, with a proposal that took her by surprise and filled their hearts with joy.

Now, as they look ahead to their big day on October 18, 2025, Kailee and Gary can’t wait to celebrate this beautiful new chapter with all of you. Thank you for being part of our story!
