Jack & Kailey's Story

Jack

I met Kailey through Snapchat, and I added her. She will act like she made the first move, but nothing would have happened without me! We talked on the phone for a few weeks before we met, and just by how she spoke to me, I was instantly starting to fall for her. Our first date was at Miami Sonic; I was trying to impress her! She pulled up in her F-250, and my first thought was her dad had a nice truck. Kailey later informed me it was hers. I instantly knew she was going to wear the pants. When I first saw Kailey that night, I thought she was way too pretty for me. I thought there was no way in hell I would have a chance with her. We talked for three hours that night, and that was the night I fell in love with her. We started dating two weeks after that. After a few months of dating, I knew I would make her my wife one day. In April of my senior year, I started talking to my mom about getting married; that’s when I started looking for rings. If you know Kailey, it must be perfect, so I researched hard. I started calling jewelry stores in July, looking for the “Kailey Diamond.” In August, I found the diamond and had it shipped to Joplin, where my parents and I went to look at it. I instantly knew it was the one. From there, I started planning when to pop the question. If you know Kailey, she loves Christmas and New York, so I figured that would be the perfect place. We had a few changes throughout the process, but I knew I would ask her on December 14th. So, on December 14th, I asked Kailey to be my wife in Central Park. Kailey is my best friend, and she has brought so much joy into my life. I’m so proud of all the things she’s already accomplished, graduating with her Associate’s degree as a senior in high school and then graduating with her bachelor’s degree in a year and a half. My mom always told me to marry someone who would make me better every day, and I found that. We constantly laugh; I love her great sense of humor. She’s truly the biggest blessing in my life; I can’t wait to marry her on June 14th, surrounded by friends and family!

Jack may have added me on Snapchat first, but he left out that I was the first to reach out to him. I first reached out to him because I had noticed on social media that it was his birthday, so I wished him a happy birthday! From there, we started texting back and forth for a couple of weeks before finally deciding to meet in person. We went to Sonic for an ice cream date, which later became a staple in our relationship. When I arrived at Sonic, I quickly got a text from Jack asking if he could get in my truck, to which I responded yes so that I could control the music if the date got awkward, but in truth, the date never got uncomfortable, and we spent the entire night talking. Just a couple of weeks later, Jack and I started dating, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Fast-forward six months after spring break, I tagged along with Jack and his family to visit his brother in Charleston. While in Charleston, Jack brought me down to the beach to watch the sunset one night, and as we were sitting there watching the sunset, he gave me a promise ring. I knew then that Jack would be the one that I would spend the rest of my life with. If anyone knows me, they know that I am a planner, and once he gave me that promise ring, I mapped out a seven-year plan for Jack and me, even though we were 18 at the time. Long story short, we did not follow the plan I had mapped out, and we kick-started it early! It was in November when Jack told me that we would be going to New York City for Christmas, which was the most exciting news because I love New York City as well as Christmas, and for him to take me there two years in a row was a dream! One morning, while we were in the city, we went on a walk through Central Park, which is when Jack got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife, which was the easiest “yes” of my life! Later that night, we went to dinner at Freedom Tower and then strolled through the city looking at all the Christmas lights and décor, which was the most incredible way to end the night. Fast-forward again to the present, where Jack is living out his football dream by being a student coach at Kansas State and working on getting his real estate license. I couldn’t be prouder of him and all the hard work and effort he has been pouring into making all his dreams come true. Now, as we are entering a new chapter in life together, I know I have found someone who will work tirelessly alongside me to make our dreams come true while having fun times and making me laugh all along the way. Finding the love of my life and best friend all in one is a blessing, especially at such a young age, and I couldn’t be more thankful. I am beyond excited to marry Jack!
