Are children allowed at the wedding?
Our wedding is adult-only. Thank you!
Where is the wedding venue?
The ceremony and reception are at the Black Diamond Lodge. The venue is approximately 30 minutes north of downtown Durango.
How do I get to Durango?
There is a regional airport in Durango, which typically requires a connecting flight, depending on your departure location. You can also fly to Denver or Albuquerque and drive the 4-6 hours to Durango. Both drives are beautiful!
Is there lodging close to the venue?
There are condos sharing a parking lot with the venue, as well as condos at Purgatory Ski Resort (1 mile north of the venue). Numerous other properties are available across the highway from the venue. Check out the travel section of the website for several Airbnb or VRBO links to places close to the venue.
How long should we plan to stay?
Nick and Kailey will arrive in Durango on Wednesday, September 18th and depart on Monday, September 23rd. Many of their guests will be in town during these dates or will opt for a shorter stay from Friday, September 20th to Monday, September 23rd. Let us know when you plan to arrive, or shoot the Bride or Groom a text when you get into town so we can include you in the many fun activities happening before the wedding!
Is transportation provided from various lodging locations?
No. Transportation to and from the wedding venue will not be provided.
Is Uber or Lyft available in Durango?
Yes, however, it may not always be available to the lodge and can be very expensive. We have provided a variety of car services on the travel page of the website. We recommend booking key rides (transportation to and from the airport, etc.) in advance. They can also provide rides to other destinations without advanced notice; however, they operate on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend reaching out as soon as you know you will need a ride.
What will the weather be like?
Is that you, Californians? September in Durango is pleasant, with highs during the day in the mid 70s and lows at night in the mid to low 40s.
What is the dress code for the wedding and other events?
The wedding attire is formal or western formal (think bolo ties, fringe and boots). Opt for comfy footwear, though, as the ceremony site requires a 1/4 mile walk on a dirt path (ladies - we don't recommend heels). For the welcome party, bring your best head-to-toe blue denim outfits because we're going all out with a Canadian tuxedo theme! As for the other events and hangouts, keep it laid-back and casual!
Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony will be outdoors, starting at 4pm with an indoor reception to follow. We suggest having appropriate clothing for likely 40-60 degree temperatures during the ceremony. (Check the forecast folks!!)
What is the elevation of the venue?
The Black Diamond Lodge sits at 6,500 feet above sea level. Stay hydrated.
What time should I arrive to the wedding ceremony?
We suggest arriving at the venue at 3:30pm. This will allow time to find parking (available at the venue), explore the grounds, and walk approximately 1/4 mile up to the ceremony site. Please find your seats by 3:45pm.
How late will the reception go?
The reception will end at 10pm. What? You think we are going to stop then? The party will continue in the basement of the lodge.
What are the parameters of Friday's welcome party?
We will be hosting a welcome party on Friday from 7-10pm at the Black Diamond Lodge. Dress how you like, although Canadian tuxedos are encouraged. There will be fire pits, hot tubs, and games. While drinks will be provided for the wedding reception, the welcome party is BYOB. Bring your bathing suits and beers and help us kick off the wedding weekend in style!
What if I have a dietary restriction?
Please let us know in the RSVP!
Do I get a plus one?
Due to limited space at the venue, only those listed on the invitation are invited. Thank you for understanding!
Will there be an open bar at the reception?
Duh.
What type of food will be served?
You'll indulge in an assortment of light apps during cocktail hour, followed by barbecue for dinner.
You're married. Now what do we do??
On Sunday morning, feel free to explore the many activities Durango has to offer (check out some options on our travel page) or, if you're feeling the aftermath of a great night, stay inside and nurse that wicked hangover (we'll probably be doing the same). However, from 4-6 pm, Nick and Kailey will be hosting an open-house style send-off party at Ska Brewing, where beers and food will be available for purchase. Keep the good times rolling as we bar-hop around town afterward!
