Our Wedding

Kyle and I met in September of 2007 as freshmen at RIT. We became close friends around the end of 2007 and in January of 2008 we officially started dating. We have spent the last 10 years together through the bad and the good. We have adventured across the United States (thrice), traveled to different parts of the world together, and started a little fur family of our own. We look forward to officially tying the knot and spending the rest of our lives together traveling and expanding our fur family.

Our Story- Kait's version :)

I first met Kait our freshman year at RIT. She was the prettiest girl in our whole dorm. We became friends quickly and started hanging out regularly. I knew I wanted to date her but I thought she was out of my league and she would never go for somebody like me. One night Kait lost her shoe in the snow on the way back from a party and I knew this was my chance to prove myself to her. Just like in Cinderella I thought if I could find her missing shoe then we would be together happily ever after. In the morning I looked long and hard and finally found the missing shoe. After this we became even closer and during the winter that year I visited her at home and spent a magical Christmas with her and her family. We finally became a couple in January and we were inseparable. We went on lots of trips together and eventually moved in together. We have moved across the country twice together and raised an amazing dog we are both really proud of. The journey we have shared together has been both rocky and smooth but I would not change Kait for anyone else and I look forward to spending my life with her enjoying all our future adventures.

Our Story- Kyle's version

Fall of 2007 Mark and I moved Kyle into his dorm room at RIT. Christmas that year We were looking forward to spending time with Kyle and hearing all about how his freshman year was going. Little did we know! I think he was home for about a day when he announced that a friend had invited him to Long Island for New Years Eve. Hmmm, I wonder who this friend is.
We met Kait 2 months later when Kyle brought her to Oswego on his birthday weekend. We knew she was a keeper when she passed the big sister critique. We baked a cake, got pedicures, watched movies, talked, and laughed. When Kait left the room Rene promptly sent me a text message that said, "I like her". Before Kait no one was good enough for her little bro. Kait seemed to fit in nicely with our crazy family.Over the years we've had the opportunity to get to know Kait and we're excited for her to move up the alphabet 11 letters to join our family and become a Backer.Anne &amp; MarkPS Kait, thanks for coming to our rescue the day we broke down with the Spitfire..

Parents of the Groom 

Kait never dated or had a boyfriend all through High School because "Boys are too much trouble". In 2007 Kaitlin started school at RIT and when she came home for Christmas break she told me " I like this boy in my dorm, he's so cute and we have been hanging out a lot lately", what is his name I asked and Kait said "Kyle Backer". No sooner did she get his name out of her mouth and there was a package delivered for Kaitlin McDonald. It's from Kyle she said as she opened up the box and pulled out a stuffed penquin. Oh my God, he knows I love penquins! I can't believe he sent me this, he is so thoughtful, can I ask him to come visit for New Years? I said OK and Kyle came for a visit. That was over 10 years ago but we knew from day one that Kyle was the perfect partner for Kaitlin and a perfect addition to our family. We love him like a son and he is certainly Kait's first, last and everything! Can't wait for May 19, 2018.

"John is Kait's brother and I first met him when he visited Kait in college. John is a very social and outgoing person that always makes people feel included. John is a very gifted person, not only is he talented musically and athletically he is currently finishing up his residency to become a doctor of osteopathic medicine. John is always fair and level headed, he always seeks to hear people out and doesn't jump to conclusions. John McDonald

"Megan is my oldest sister. We've known each other 28 years but have only loved each other for about 10 years (hehe). From hating living together as teenagers to renting a home together as adults, I am so happy to have her as my sister and that she is here to help me with my big day."-Kait"As the bride is my younger sister, we have known each other forever but have grown closer in adulthood. That's why she's made me her matron of honor and it also helps that I'm her favorite sister (don't listen to Coll)! People often ask me if I'm Kait's twin, and of course, since we look so much alike I always say yes! Kait is such a loving, strong, beautiful person and I'm glad she found her soulmate in Kyle."-Megan

"Colleen is my twin sister. We have obviously been through a lot together- ya know like growing in a womb and being birthed together and all. From fighting all the time to laughing at all the times we fought, we remain close, as we should be. I am so happy we get to celebrate together on my wedding day."-Kait"I've known Kait since 9 months before our birth, and even though she's older than me, which I plan to hold over her head for the rest of our lives, she is my breast friend (not to be confused with best friend) and twin (even though people often confuse us and think Meg is our twin). I am lucky and honored to be Kait's Maid of Honor (Matron makes me sound way too old). I can not wait to celebrate Kait &amp; Kyle next year and have another brother in my life. "Steve is Kait's brother in law married to Colleen her sister. I have known Steve since Kait and I started dating. Steve constantly reminds me of my father with the amount of skill and knowledge he has in the garage or workshop. Steve has a great imagination and is always thinking about the latest technology and what kind of things he can create. Steve has a great sense of humor and is always a pleasure to be around. I am proud to have him as one of my groomsmen."-Kyle"Since High School I have been close with Kait's family and once I started dating her sister and we had to make a trip to RIT and you were always right there by Kait's side. We've had a lot of fun together the four of us, from visiting your parents in Oswego, to you living on Long Island and then hanging out with you in California, not once, but twice and then there's Hawaii. I'm excited to celebrate your big day with you and look forward to many more adventures in the future."-Steve

"Celeste and I met while working together in California. I knew immediately we were going to be best friends. From staying up until sunrise just talking and hanging out to being my biggest ray of sunshine, Celeste is a prime example of what a good person and best friend is. Thank you for taking the time from your busy vet school schedule to spend with Kyle and I on our big day."-Kait"I met Kait when she had just moved out to California and we clicked instantly. Sometimes I feel like it was fate to become best friends, sometimes  I think I just forced her into it.  I remember when Kait told me Kyle proposed and picked the perfect ring. My reaction, "Finally!" I feel honored that Kait picked me to be one of her bridesmaids; I swear I didn't force her! I can't wait to see Kait and Kyle tie the knot come May."-Celeste

"Rene is my older sister and I have know her since I was born. We spent a lot of time bonding as kids playing winter sports and camping with our family and friends. I have always looked up to Rene as she always help guide and prepare me for the world. She is very personable and easy to talk to. Rene has a determined attitude and I am proud of her accomplishments and aspirations. I am ecstatic that she is my groomswoman."-Kyle"I first met Kyle the day he was born, he was this super tiny cute baby boy! I immediately fell in LOVE, but soon realized he was growing up and becoming more annoying to me by the day. So, I made it my mission to torture him by dressing him up and putting make up on him. I was so sure I thoroughly messed him up for life! But he has turned out to be the best little brother a sister could ask for. Kyle is so smart, handsome, funny and someone I have grown to admire and respect. I am so thrilled he has found such an amazing woman. Now I'll finally have the sister I was always trying to turn Kyle into."-Rene

Leela is our first puppy dog. We rescued her at the wee age of 10 weeks and have shaped her into the amazing dog that she is today. Because of her, our bond has strengthened. We have traveled all over the United States with her and we plan to continue to take her with us where ever we can.  We are so happy she can join us on our special day.
