Kaitlin and Doug met in 2018 while Kaitlin was living with Doug's sister, Emily. On a night at The Grasshopper, Kaitlin literally fell into Doug's arms as she tripped coming out of the bathroom. While she recognized him as her roommate's brother, it was clear he didn't recognize her when his response to her profuse apologies was "That's okay, it made my night." After running upstairs to tell her best friend, Sam, that Emily's brother just hit on her, Doug came up, saw Kaitlin and his sister talking, and put it all together.

Though they were instantly interested in each other, Kaitlin was nervous about starting a relationship with her roommate's brother. It's worth noting that Kaitlin also worked with Doug's brother, Kyle, so the stakes were tremendously high. After several months of stolen kisses and secret dates, Kaitlin and Doug decided to make it official in July 2019.

When schools shut down for what was supposed to be two weeks in March 2020, Kaitlin decided she would spend that time with Doug at his apartment in Maryland. Neither of them knew that 2 weeks would turn into 2 months, but they made the best of quarantine by playing board games, having virtual happy hours, and ordering 3 entrees when they couldn't decide on dinner.

Over the past four years, Kaitlin and Doug have started a life together in their favorite place: Morristown, NJ. They have developed a true love of BBQ, and have been on two separate BBQ tours: they visited 8 BBQ restaurants in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland in 2021, and 16 in 2022 in St. Louis and Kansas City (see below for their rankings). When they aren't smoking meat, they like to entertain their friends, go on Sunday bar crawls, and try new recipes. They are both so excited to celebrate their love with their family and friends in August 2024!
