Kait and Mike have always had an “invisible string” to end up together. They both grew up in Edison Park, within a half mile of each other and attended rival grade schools, and then brother/sister Catholic high schools. Chances are they most likely attended the same school sporting events throughout their childhood without even knowing it.

However, they officially met during Edison Park Fest in 2012 through their mutual friend Joe, Kait’s coworker from Oasis Waterpark and one of Mike’s best friends. They quickly became friends over their love for the Chicago Blackhawks. The connection was there but the timing was never right between them. They remained in the same friend group the rest of that year, and then drifted apart during college.

During their time apart, their older sisters, Danielle and Jacklyn, became best friends while attending DePaul University together. On St. Patrick’s Day in 2018, Kait and Mike met up with their sisters in Wrigleyville and rekindled their friendship over green beer and lemon drop shots. They caught up on life and decided that it would be fun to hangout again with their friend group from high school. After keeping in touch the next few months, Mike invited Kait to his college graduation party in June. They quickly became close friends and started spending time together with their friend group every weekend after that.

They bonded over their mutual love for Marvel movies, country music, and Chicago sports. Soon, they realized how much they shared the same values when it came to family and their futures. They began to see how much fun they had together, and decided to take their friendship to the next level. Kait and Mike went on their first date shortly after to Wilmette Beach where they decided to give their relationship a shot. The next few years were full of bar crawls, concerts, family vacations, fantasy football leagues, game nights with friends, and sporting events.

They even survived video “quarantine” date nights during COVID. In December 2021, they took the next step and moved in together.&nbsp;

On April 22nd, 2023, Mike brought Kait back to their first date spot on Wilmette Beach and he asked her to marry him. He then took her to her favorite restaurant for lunch, Cooper’s Hawk, and surprised her with all of their close family and friends at their favorite bar, Arlington Ale House. The day couldn’t have been more perfect

Two weeks after their engagement, they added four paws to their family with their puppy, Miley.

Kait and Mike can't wait to spend the rest of their lives together. They are looking forward to celebrating their love with family and friends on September 20th, 2025.
