Kaitlyn and Alex’s story starts like many do these days…. with two right swipes! After chatting for a couple of weeks they decided to meet in person. Alex made reservations for dinner at a local Italian restaurant and the anticipation began. When the date started, they were both very nervous, however the two showed their nerves very differently. Alex was quiet and shy, and Kaitlyn couldn’t stop talking. She was convinced that Alex wasn’t having a good time, but at the end of dinner, he asked her if she wanted to go to a bar for drinks. Kaitlyn was relieved as she was beginning to think she really liked him. The date went on, Alex talked more, Kaitlyn quit rambling, and by the end of the night, they couldn’t wait to see each other again. Dates came and went with each one bringing the two closer together. A month later, on Valentine's Day weekend, Alex asked Kaitlyn to be his girlfriend, and they finally made it official. This was of course approved by Yetti, their favorite German Shepard and bestest boy. As time, dates, concerts, and fetch sessions with Yetti passed their love for each other began to grow. Friends and family were introduced, and they were met with nothing but love and reassurance for the two of them that this could be the one. Before long they were sure that they were ready to make that forever commitment. They went ring shopping and Kaitlyn found a ring she loved. Then the waiting began! Kaitlyn began to pester Alex (and everyone else they knew) when he was going to pop the question. Alex had convinced Kaitlyn that he didn’t have the ring and that it was going to be awhile. Alex’s parents had planned a family cruise in February and Kaitlyn was excited to join them, but she was sure Alex wouldn’t propose on the cruise because she knew that he wanted her parents to be there. What Kaitlyn didn’t know was that Alex had invited her parents to come along on the cruise. It was finally cruise time and Kaitlyn was so excited… that was until they got on the boat and Alex disappeared with a crew member for almost an hour. Kaitlyn was annoyed that they finally made it to their first vacation together and her boyfriend disappeared. Alex’s mom told her that Alex had bought his parents a photo session so they could do family pictures and he had to pick a good spot to do them. Looking back Kaitlyn can’t believe that she fell for that, but she did. Alex returned and the good times began. Behind the scenes, Kaitlyn’s parents had boarded and were in constant contact with Alex’s parents to make sure that Kaitlyn didn’t run into them (which apparently was a very hard task). Formal night was the evening of the first full day of the cruise and that is when Alex planned to pop the question. Alex was cool, calm, and collected, not giving Kaitlyn any reason to think something was up. It was time to get ready for dinner and Alex told Kaitlyn that they were going to do their family portraits before dinner. They finish getting ready and head to the top level of the piazza next to the grand staircase. Alex and his family told Kaitlyn they were just waiting for the photographer to arrive. Kaitlyn, still not having any clue as to what was going on was looking around at the artwork and listening to the piano player just as oblivious as she could be. Soon Alex came up to Kaitlyn and pointed across the way at Kaitlyn’s parents who were walking up. Kaitlyn was in shock and in a squeezy voice (that Alex still makes fun of her for) says “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?”. Kaitlyn turned to Alex and knew exactly what was happening. Alex pulled out the ring, dropped to a knee, and asked her to marry him. Kaitlyn was crying so hard she couldn’t talk, but the head nod and kiss were yes enough. The two with their families had a blast the remainder of the cruise and got to have a nice glimpse into the future of two families becoming one. Since then, Kaitlyn and Alex (and Yetti) have moved in together, and are enjoying planning their wedding and life together.
