How We MetKatie and Tommy’s story kicked off on Hinge, in true modern romance style. Tommy had intended to ask Katie out as soon as they matched, but a bout of COVID delayed their first encounter. When the stars finally aligned on August 19, 2022, it turned into a spontaneous double date with Katie’s best friend—a twist that turned out to be surprisingly perfect. They hit it off immediately, with laughter and conversation flowing from the start.

Making It OfficialJust a couple of weeks later—on September 4—Tommy officially asked Katie to be his girlfriend. From that point on, it felt like they’d known each other forever. One of their quirkiest (and favorite) habits is randomly belting out made-up tunes, complete with cringe-worthy “harmonies.” What started as a joke quickly became a signature pastime—proof that laughter really does keep a relationship strong.

Adventures Far and NearOver the following years, Katie and Tommy packed in as many adventures as possible. They soaked up the sun in Florida, cruised the high seas (twice!), and once took a spontaneous weekend trip to Kentucky’s Mammoth Caves. That particular getaway turned into a comedic disaster when it rained non-stop and unwanted guests (of the cockroach variety) joined them in their hotel room. Still, they made the best of it—sharing exasperated laughs and memories that they’ll one day (maybe) find hilarious.

A New HomeIn July 2023, the couple took a major step forward by moving in together in Chicago. Tommy began medical school, and Katie supported him every step of the way, even if it meant tiptoeing around late-night study sessions or whipping up midnight snacks. No matter how hectic life got, they always found time for one of their random duets (the neighbors have yet to complain). Through every twist and turn, they remained grateful for the friends and family who have cheered them on along the way.

The ProposalBy April 2024, on their second cruise together, Tommy was ready for the next big chapter. On a night they had splurged on a fancy steakhouse dinner. Katie and Tommy got dressed to the nines—Katie in a stunning dress, Tommy in a sharp suit—and enjoyed a lavish meal together. Nerves and excitement tangled in Tommy’s stomach as he reached into his pocket, pulled out a ring, and dropped to one knee.&nbsp;Overwhelmed by joy (and maybe a bit of shock), Katie said “Yes!” and the cheers from nearby tables made the moment even sweeter.

Looking AheadNow they’re busy planning their wedding and can’t wait to celebrate with everyone who’s been part of their journey. From surprise double dates to impromptu harmonies and disaster-prone road trips, Katie and Tommy’s love story is anything but ordinary—and that’s exactly the way they like it. Here’s to a lifetime of shared adventures, laughter, and the knowledge that no matter what life brings, they’ll face it together (probably while singing).

One of the largest shopping malls in the U.S., Woodfield Mall is perfect for anyone looking to shop, dine, or just wander around. It has everything from high-end brands to casual stores, plus tons of restaurants. Nearby, there’s also LEGOLAND Discovery Center for families with kids.
