It started in an unusual way, while Jake and Kaitlyn knew of each other during their times at Wooster, their paths crossed minimally. When Kaitlyn was in Columbus and Jake in Cleveland, Kaitlyn took a chance and sent Jake a direct message on Instagram and the rest was history. Jake and Kaitlyn remained long-distance for the first three years of their relationship, as Jake taught and coached in Cleveland and supported Kaitlyn to move to Pittsburgh to go to PT school. After many weekends together exploring breweries in Cleveland, Columbus and Pittsburgh, adding miles to their cars, phone calls and FaceTimes, Kaitlyn and Jake were able to experience their relationship together in Cleveland starting in 2022. Their world was rocked when Brewer, originally Jakes dog (turned Jake and Kaits) became paralyzed from a spinal cord injury. Jake proposed to Kaitlyn in the summer of 2022, and since then Brewer has made a near full recovery. Through ups and downs, long-distance and living in the same city, they are truly looking forward to everything to come together.
