We first met in middle school when Kyle was in Grade 7 and Kaitlyn was in Grade 8. We also went to the same high school where we had mutual friends and would have the occasional conversation. Fast forward to 2021, when Kyle came to a mutual friend’s party where we “met” for the first time since high school.

A couple of weeks later, Kyle and his dad, Sean, were having lunch at the restaurant Kaitlyn was working at. Kaitlyn went over to say hi, which prompted a suggestion from Sean that Kyle ask Kaitlyn out. What Sean didn’t know is we had already been texting about a date in the near future. Since that first date, we’ve been inseparable and after two happy years together, Kyle asked Kaitlyn to marry him.

By a stroke of luck, the ring came in the day before a family vacation with the Yirkas in Bahamas. Kyle managed to drive over to the Sellers’ to ask Kaitlyn’s parents, Val and Chris, for her hand while she was running errands and make it back home as to not raise suspicion. He proposed the first night of the vacation, under the ruse we were taking pictures in front of the sunset. Kyle’s sister-in-law, Brooklynn, and brother, Tyler, videoed the whole thing. After the surprise, and through the tears, Kaitlyn said yes!!

The surprises continued 24 hours later. After conspiring with the Yirkas, Val, Chris and Kaitlyn’s brother Brandon, boarded a flight to Bahamas to join the celebrations and surprise Kaitlyn. The proposal was made even more special as we celebrated with our families for the rest of the week 🤍
