In 2015, Katie decided to move to San Diego for a sabbatical from teaching. They met shortly after Katie settled in at a party at Lake Havasu. Shayne swept Katie off of her feet with his attempts at understanding her many Harry Potter references. She was attracted to his particularly large listening ears and he was attracted to...well everything about her. Shayne introduced Katie to the kids, and they all fell even deeper in love. It didn't take long for life to throw curveballs at them, but together they pushed through the craziness, learning together what a true, committed partnership meant. Now after an extended engagement (thanks COVID!) we are happy to (finally) be at the precipice of celebrating our love with those who have supported us throughout our lives both together and in the before fore time.
