Q + A

Where is the venue located?

The Rehearsal Dinner, Ceremony, Reception and Saturday Brunch will be held at Watermen’s Museum in Yorktown. Parking can be found immediately in front of the venue and to the right (close to the bridge). The address is 309 Water St, Yorktown, VA.

How do I get to the welcome dinner and/or ceremony?

The welcome dinner and ceremony will be located in the Carriage House at the venue, which is right next to the actual museum. Once you arrive, walk towards the gravel parking lot to the left of the museum. The Carriage House should be straight ahead.

What should I wear?

The official dress code for the wedding is "dressy casual." This means guests should expect to wear an outfit that is a mixture of formal and casual (slacks, jeans, dress shoes, button up shirts, blazers, medium to floor length dresses). However, t-shirts, shorts, and/or skirts are NOT acceptable. It will also be mid-august in Virginia, so plan on high temperatures and wearing clothing that is light colored, such as light neutrals and light pinks, blues, greens, yellows, purples, etc. Flower patterns are most welcome.

Which airport should I fly into?

Richmond International Airport and Norfolk International Airport are both equidistant to Yorktown. Norfolk is generally quieter and less of a hassle to travel through, but both airports are suitable destinations.

Where should I stay?

Staying at Yorktown Beach Hotel will offer the most convenience as everything will be within walking distance. There are many other options available, but most of them are in Williamsburg, which is about a 30 minute drive from Yorktown. Please refer to the travel tab for a full list of hotels.

Why isn't the wedding in Cincinnati?

As much as we would love to have the wedding in Cincinnati--where a lot of family and friends reside--the cost of renting, hosting, and catering is astronomical compared to places close to where we live. And as we are paying for the wedding ourselves, we thought it'd be best to choose a place that we not only love but that we can also afford. We're certain you'll love it too!

Why Yorktown?

We live in an area known as the historic triangle: Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. Whereas Williamsburg is a suburban college town, and Jamestown is largely a reenactment with some foundations and an empty field, Yorktown is a living, breathing town that also feels largely unchanged since it was founded in the 18th century. Our first time there we fell in love with it, and take any opportunity to go back as often as we can.

What's there to do in Yorktown?

Yorktown is a revolutionary era hamlet that sits right on the York River. The town is steeped in history, with a museum and battlefield up the road, as well as a riverside boardwalk with shops, restaurants, a beach, and Yorktown Beach Hotel. If you stay in Yorktown, there will be no shortage of things you can do, and the venue is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
