How We Met

Galen and Kajsa met in the most romantic and modern of ways: on a dating app. This was no ordinary meeting, however. When they first "matched" they chatted for a bit but couldn't find a time to meet up. Galen was still touring with Rhythmic Circus at the time and was often out of town, so the two talked for a bit before the conversations died down...4 months later... Kajsa swept in with an oh so smooth "oops, sorry- I never saw your last message" and Galen graciously pretended like that wasn't a totally obvious lie. They FINALLY found a date to meet and had their first date at Pat's Tap in South Minneapolis.

How We Got Here

2 and a half years after that fateful first meeting...Galen and Kajsa were getting ready for a date night on a snowy December 23rd. Earlier in the week Galen had suggested they do a surprise dinner, where he picked the restaurant and surprised Kajsa, something they'd been doing for a few months. This time, however, Kajsa replied "are you going to propose?" (subtle, I know)."Of course not" he said "I'm just planning this now, I'd have planned a proposal further out". She was satisfied with this response and they went on with their lives until later that week when Kajsa's sister, Tegan, asked if she wanted to get her nails done on Sunday morning (the same day as the scheduled date). Jokingly, Kajsa asked Galen if this was a ruse to get her nails ready for proposal photos. Galen honestly had no idea what that had to do with a proposal, so he easily shrugged that one off. Back to the 23rd, as the two prepared to leave for their date, Galen grabbed his camera and put it in the trunk of his car."What's that for?" Kajsa asked."Oh, I'm just keeping it in there" Galen said. As they began to drive to their surprise destination, Galen pulled into Mounds Park and said "Wow! the lights look so pretty, I'm going to grab a photo quick"Kajsa was beginning to get suspicious, but didn't want to ruin anything so she feigned surprise as she followed Galen through the snow to the bench on the top of the hill. Galen pretended to take photos for a few minutes and sat on the bench to "look through his camera" (he is nothing if not committed to the bit). As Kajsa sat next to him he turned to her and said some really sweet things that they've both forgotten due to their excitement. They do both know that it ended with Galen getting down onto one knee in the snow and asking "Kajsa, will you marry me?"Her immediate response was "You're going to get your pants wet!"(from kneeling in the snow) followed quickly by a "Yeah, yes, yes, yes!"
