Previously, Keely was in Jacksonville, FL assigned to USS Iwo Jima, and within two months of returning from deployment, she was reassigned to Stennis Space Center in Mississippi in 2021. Shortly after moving, at the urging of Nicole and Chynna, Keely created an online dating profile.

Kaleb had been selected for a scholarship that hired him to work for the Naval Oceanographic Office at Stennis Space Center right out of college. He had a dating profile to meet people, and in January of 2022, scrolled across a cute girl. Interested, he noticed she also had a passion for weather. It was a picture of her in Halo Mjolnir armor that caught his attention. He swiped right.

Kaleb's profile bio of "Just a Roy Kent looking for his Keely" (a reference from the TV show Ted Lasso) was too much of a coincidence to pass up. She had to find out more about the man who was looking for “his Keely.” She swiped right.

Keely's opening line was asking who Roy Kent was. Through several text messages, Keely's wit and humor hooked Kaleb, and he knew he had to meet her. Within just days of matching, Kaleb asked Keely to Tacos & Beer, a local restaurant. Despite being 20 mins late after a garbage mishap, Kaleb was hopeful. She initially thought he was too serious, but as the night went on, he loosened up, and she found his goofiness made it easy to talk.

After exchanging Snapchat handles, Kaleb began sending daily pictures of the colorful, fun socks he wore to work. She looked forward to the sock snaps and the dumb puns that came with them.
