27 Days To Go!

The Story of Our Love

Kaley's Point of View

I was 22, ready to find something serious but becoming so tired from searching. I truly gave up efforts according to my own will and prayed to God that He would begin to mold me into who I needed to be, focusing on growing and bettering myself. I was living my life, spending time with friends and family, focusing on my job. I got an invitation to Gracie and Dillon's wedding. Gracie was a friend that I had known since childhood from going to the same school, kindergarten all the way to college, and being a part of the same home church for years. Dillon was a guy that I had become friends with through tutoring for volunteer hours and later being part of a bigger friend group. I had known them both separately before they started dating. I was overjoyed to go to their wedding, as I had seen their relationship blossom from the very first date. I was familiar with Dillon having brothers, but had never formally met them because they attended another school. I was sitting at the ceremony of Gracie and Dillon's wedding, looking at one of the groomsmen. I couldn't help but think, I don't remember one of Dillon's brothers being THAT handsome!. I enjoyed the ceremony and went on to celebrate the lovely couple, dancing the night away. As I was doing so, I found myself on the dance floor and saw a foam glow stick that had just been dropped. I picked it up and handed it to who I thought dropped it. Lo and behold, it was the cute groomsmen that I had been eyeing from the ceremony. Dalton was standing there with a smile, waiting for me to hand him the glow stick. His exact words were I'm Dalton, it is nice to meet you. You have beautiful eyes!. We bumped into each other after the reception and spoke some more. We were then invited to an after party hang out, where we got to know each other and didn't stop talking the entire night. I left that house and sneakily got someone to give me Dalton's number. I texted him that night about how nice it was to meet him, knowing that I couldn't let it go if I did not take this opportunity. We haven't stopped talking each other's ears off since and the rest is history! Thank you for listening to my sappy love story, I will never get tired of sharing it. What can I say, I found my prince charming!

Dalton's Point of View

I was 24 when I met Kales. I had been in and out of very rough relationships and was out of the Marines for 2 years at that point. I had recently moved into my own apartment a few months prior and within the span of a week, my car had been shot at and the exhaust pipe was falling off. Needless to say, life had thrown me a lot of curveballs and I was over women. I was trying to be better and focus on myself. I know, it sounds cliche, but I really was! I found God and Jesus again, slowly but surely. I was in the process of getting a bachelor's degree when Dillon, my little brother, announced that he was getting married. I was so excited for him! Fast forward to his wedding day, I was one of his best men standing up there with him. I told myself I was not looking for a relationship and “If it’s meant to be, it’ll be.” WELL... I met a very pretty, very sweet, brown eyed angel on the reception dance floor and she was in a beautiful pink dress. There were glow sticks available for guests to dance with and I wanted to get her attention to introduce myself. I just so happened to “accidentally” drop my glow stick in front of her and the moment our eyes met, I knew she was going to be special. Of course I had a little TOO much liquid courage in my system, so I probably said “You have really pretty eyes” about 50 times. Who knows? I don’t. Fast forward to later in the evening, Dillon’s now in-laws invited a group of us back to their house for food and drinks. I saw this as a way in to talk to her. We did get to know each other a bit and the conversation was filled with laughter, jokes, and the occasional flirting. The night was about be over and as everyone was leaving, I thought to myself “I should probably ask for her number”. My 230 lb body full of liquid courage knocked on her window, but she was talking to other people so she did not hear me. I swallowed my pride and walked away (dumbest decision I ever made). However, one hour later I get a text from miss sweet, beautiful, brown eyed angel. She told me that it was nice to finally get to meet me. I saw the text, told myself “Shooters have to take their shot”, and asked her out for a coffee date. Due to car troubles mentioned earlier, that wasn’t exactly what happened. We ended walking around a park near my house with my dog for our first date. We spent hours talking... and it was the best date of my life. I’ll never forget it. 2 years later and the rest is history.. it didn’t take long to figure out she was the one. But that’s a tale for another time. Thank you for reading our stories, much love to everyone.
