Our Story

It all started in 8th grade—Coach T’s English class, 2012. He had a high top fade, and I wore my hair in up-do twists. We were just kids back then, but even then, there was something special. We were friends, laughing through class and passing notes, until life took us in different directions when he and his mom moved to Jackson.

Fast forward to the Summer of 2016—he slid into my Instagram DMs (classic, right?), and that simple message changed everything. I was away at a summer camp that didn’t allow phones during the day, but like clockwork, I’d come back to my dorm every night to a message from Darryl. We’d talk until we fell asleep on the phone, every single night. We were technically long-distance, but our amazing moms drove us back and forth just so we could spend time together—we’re forever grateful to them for that.

Eventually, we both ended up at Mississippi State University. Our paths drifted apart for a while, but somehow, we always found our way back to each other. By Spring of 2020, we were spending so much time at my mom’s house that we decided to make it official and move in together.

In the Summer of 2023, we took a leap and moved to Atlanta. A few months later, in the Spring of 2024, Darryl proposed at the Botanical Gardens—and of course, I said yes!

We’ve seen highs and lows together, including some tough financial stretches, but we’ve bounced back stronger than ever. Now, we're counting down the days until we say “I do” in October 2026. I can’t wait to marry my best friend.
