Nick & Kali found love via the online dating app Bumble. Nick was busy with work travel, and Kali was busy with in-season coaching so it was some time before the two met in person. Mother's Day 2022, Nick made the journey north from Toledo to meet Kali for dinner in Dundee. After seeing him at a table in the middle of the restaurant, Kali immediately caught butterflies. And after shaking his hand and saying hello, she was so nervous she blurted out "I'm going to go wash my hands." Kali caught herself smiling and giddy the whole walk to the bathroom. She was still so enamored at the end of the date she forgot her leftovers. Their love story really blossomed when Nick introduced Kali to all his friends on their third date! Shortly after the pair made their relationship official.

After sharing many trips and adventures together they knew they had found their person. Nick proposed in August 2024. They share a love of sporting events, binge watching Netflix, and working out in their home gym.
