Michael and Kali met when they were 13 and 15 years old at a youth dance hosted at the Wilson County Show Barn. There, Michael asked Kali to dance for the first time, not knowing that this would be the first of many dances they shared.

A few years later when Michael and Kali were 16 and 17 they rekindled their friendship and realized they felt a little stronger than friends towards one another. Eventually, Michael began taking Kali out on dates more frequently, they went to concerts, went on ice cream runs, and went on drives around town. In May, Michael decided it was time to ask Kali out and she said yes!
