Kalie and Mario first met in 4th grade when Mario’s family moved from Florida to Ohio. They shared classrooms in both 4th and 5th grade, and as the years went on, their paths continued to cross through middle school and high school.They were always friends—bonding over their love of art in the high school art program, skiing at Mad River, and at Kalie’s house parties where Mario and his siblings were regulars. Kalie’s dad, Jeff, admired Mario’s fearlessness on skis and appreciated that he always made a point to have good conversations with him as a parent. He also noticed that Mario was the one who stayed behind to help clean up after parties. Mario’s mom, Amy, also adored Kalie, often inviting her over for egg sandwiches before summer days working at the pool.In 2015, Kalie and Mario briefly reconnected in Boynton Beach, where Kalie’s dad was living at the time. But it wasn’t until years later that their story truly began.During a trip to visit her aunt and cousin in West Palm Beach, Kalie remembered that the Gasbarro family was still living there. After hearing from Mario’s brother, Gianni, on social media, she decided to reach out to Mario. She let him know she and her dad would be in town for her little cousin Harper’s birthday party and suggested catching up over dinner.That Friday, Mario and his sister Elia picked up Kalie and Jeff from their hotel and took them to dinner. Mario showed up with a necklace for Kalie made by Elia, opened her car door, and made sure everyone had a great evening. Gianni ended up meeting up with them as well. After dropping Jeff off at the hotel, Mario took Kalie to Juno Beach, where they walked for hours late into the night and came across sea turtles nesting in the sand. The next night, Mario asked Kalie out for ice cream, and Jeff told her she’d better go.When they reconnected, they quickly discovered that deep down, they were still the same kids they used to know and love—loyal, beautiful people with endless love to give. And this time, they had finally found someone to love them just as deeply in return.They spent a year in a long-distance relationship between Ohio and West Palm Beach. During that time, Kalie found a natural closeness with Mario’s dad, Vince, and the rest of his family in Florida, who welcomed her with open arms. It was also during this time that they learned their grandfathers had once been friends at Muirfield Village Golf Club—both of whom meant a great deal to Kalie and Mario. Meanwhile, Mario made it a priority to get to know Kalie’s family in Florida and spend time with her dad and friends back in Ohio. Thankfully, Amy and Bill kept them well-fed during this busy time.After a year of long distance, Mario moved back to Ohio. Together, they blended their lives (and their three dogs!) and built a home together. In late July, Mario asked Kalie to marry him in the driveway of the lot where they will build their forever home.Looking back, they are in awe of how love and family wove their paths together, and grateful for the way every moment has led them to this chapter of their lives. They cannot wait to celebrate their union with all of the people they love most.

WHERE SHOULD I STAY?Our wedding will take place at The Beekman Hotel in the Financial District, which will be the most convenient spot for all of the festivities.For guests looking for a more budget-friendly option, the Aloft Manhattan Downtown – Financial District is just around the corner (only about a one-minute walk from The Beekman). Please see below for links to the hotels. WILL THERE BE A ROOM BLOCK WITH PREFERRED RATES?Yes! A room block has been reserved at preferred rates. Please visit the room block <a href="https://www.hyatt.com/events/en-US/group-booking/LGATH/G-MGMH" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">link</a> for details. WHICH AIRPORT SHOULD I FLY INTO?The good news is that most cities offer direct flights into New York City. JFK is the closest airport to The Beekman and will be the most convenient. LaGuardia (LGA) is also a good option.We do not recommend Newark (EWR) since it’s much farther from the venue and can be less convenient for travel. WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY HOTEL/FLIGHT?It’s recommended to book your hotel and air travel 2–3 months in advance, as February can be a busy time in New York City. HOW SHOULD I GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL?The easiest option is to take an Uber or Lyft directly from the airport to the hotel, which usually runs about $100 each way depending on traffic and the airport.Money-saving tip: If you’re flying into LaGuardia (LGA), Uber now offers a shuttle service into Manhattan for around $20. From the shuttle drop-off point, it’s just a quick Uber or taxi ride to the hotel — a great way to save if you don’t mind splitting the trip.You can also try coordinating with other guests and share an Uber or Lyft from the airport to keep costs lower. Kalie will be more than happy to help connect guests who want to share rides.Note: Public transportation is not recommended for this journey unless you’re already familiar with navigating NYC’s system. From LGA you’d need to switch from bus to subway, and from JFK you’d transfer at Jamaica Station — which can be inconvenient and stressful with luggage. HOW CAN I GET AROUND THE CITY?A great way to navigate New York is with the Citymapper app. It provides step-by-step directions anywhere in the city, showing different options (subway, walking, Uber, etc.) so you can easily compare and choose what works best.Navigating New York is one of Kalie’s favorite things to do, and if you’re in town early, she’d be happy to show you how to use the app and even help you get your feet wet with the subway.Pro tip: The subway now accepts tap-to-pay (Apple Pay, Google Pay, or any contactless credit card), so there’s no need to purchase a MetroCard—just tap at the turnstile and go.Uber &amp; Cabs: For those who prefer not to use the subway, Uber, Lyft, and traditional yellow cabs are widely available and easy to hail throughout the city. SHOULD WE JUST BRING OUR CAR?It is not recommended to bring a car into the city. February weather can be unpredictable, driving in Manhattan is often more difficult than convenient, and hotel parking is typically around $95 per night. Getting around by subway, Uber, Lyft, or cab will be much easier (and less stressful!). You definitely won’t need a car to enjoy the city. Each option was chosen with guests in mind — easy to get to, simple to navigate even if you’re not familiar with the city, and manageable alongside the wedding schedule.

The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel, part of Hyatt is located 1640 feet from the Brooklyn Bridge and the Westfield World Trade Center. Located in the Financial District, Aloft Manhattan Downtown is 2116 feet from Wall Street and the 9/11 Memorial. The closest subway station, Fulton Street, is only a minutes’ walk away. A terrace lounge and a fitness center is available on-site at Aloft Manhattan. The hotel also has a bar and a 24-hour snack bar. Aloft Downtown also offers free WiFi and a 24-hour front desk. A 42 inch flat-screen TV and a coffee maker is provided in every room. The bathroom features a shower and a hairdryer. Aloft Manhattan Downtown is 12 mi from LaGuardia Airport.

Ferries are one of the best ways to take in New York’s beautiful landmarks. The Circle Line Ferry offers Statue of Liberty tours that depart from a location within walking distance of The Beekman. (Other Circle Line tours leave from different piers, so this is the most convenient option.) These tours include indoor heated seating, making them a great choice for February. Along the way, you’ll see the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan Bridge (Kalie’s favorite!), and sweeping views of New York’s skyline. Tours typically last 1–2 hours, and tickets are very affordable, ranging from $35–$60.

Catching a Broadway show is one of New York City’s defining experiences and something everyone should do at least once. Kalie and Mario highly recommend Cabaret, but you can’t go wrong with classics like Wicked, The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Les Misérables, or Hamilton.

Take an Uber or hop on the subway to explore Central Park! Be sure to visit the iconic Bow Bridge, one of the park’s most picturesque spots, and stop at the San Remo viewpoint for one of the most famous skyline views in the park. Along the way, you’ll find cozy spots like Le Pain Quotidien, a café inside the park where you can warm up with coffee, tea, or a pastry.Even in the winter, the park is beautiful — with snowy paths, bare trees framing the skyline, and ice skaters gliding at Wollman Rink. It’s the perfect place for a stroll and some memorable photos.Tip: Bow Bridge, the San Remo viewpoint, and Le Pain Quotidien are all close to one another on the west side of the park, making it easy to see them all in a single visit.

For an evening of timeless artistry, consider seeing a performance at Lincoln Center — home to the New York City Ballet and The Metropolitan Opera. The grand architecture and world-class performances make it one of the most beautiful cultural experiences in the city. The bride is a true sucker for these events, so this one comes with her wholehearted recommendation.(Plan to arrive early — they take start times seriously, and once the performance begins, the doors close!)

From ancient history to modern masterpieces, every corner of the museum feels like stepping into another world. Whether you spend an hour or an afternoon, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression.

You simply can’t leave New York without having some pizza — it’s practically a city requirement. The couple’s favorite style is Neapolitan, and they’ve shared a few of their personal favorites below: Lombardi’s – Right in Little Italy. It’s touristy, but a tasty classic! Ask for Johnathon and tell him Kalie and Mario said hello.Pizzazz (Union Square) – Quick, take-away pizza made with the freshest, most authentic ingredients. Mario, Kalie, and Jeff once had it four times in one weekend! It’s available for delivery too.L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele – Meets AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana) standards, meaning it’s true Neapolitan pizza. A romantic vibe, great for a date — and the pies are huge.2 Bros Pizza – Not Neapolitan, but Mario never misses the chance for a good greasy slice. You’ll spot their red-and-white signs all over the city.
