Kalisa was scrolling through Hinge (an online dating app) one night and saw a cute boy (yay!) standing in front of a WSU flag (boo). As she read down the profile, one prompt caught her eye, something along the lines of: What things are you looking for in a partner? The answer went something like: Someone who likes drinking wine, watching sports, and hiking. Kalisa thought hmmm, that's me! And proceeded to "like" the prompt. A day or two later came the response from Nick: "How was your weekend?"
After talking for a while, Nick decided to ask Kalisa on a date hiking. Kalisa immediately agreed! What was supposed to be a short hike to Lake 22 ended up transforming into a long drive, change of plans to Mt. Pilchuck, and 9 hours later...the date finally ended. And the rest is history!
Throughout the last two years, we have spent a lot of time traveling, hiking, and watching sports.
From the get go, we've taken road trips down the Oregon coast and a week long camping trip to Arches, Zion, and the Grand Canyon. This past July we jetted across the globe and spent time in Paris, Venice, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, and Rome.
We've done tons of hiking, both on our trips and back home. Our latest hiking extravaganza included spending a couple of nights in Leavenworth and hiking through the Enchantments.
Our love grew even more, sharing our hobbies together, and we bought season tickets to the Mariners, just in time to spend 18 innings at T-Mobile Park, celebrating their first post season game in 21 years. Saturdays and Sundays are usually spent watching football, as Kalisa roots for the Huskies and Nick roots for the Cougs. Somehow, this house divided still works!
Kalisa and Nick headed down to Bend, OR to visit with some friends, do some snowshoeing, and generally just having a little getaway. Nick was prepared to propose to Kalisa on Mt. Bachelor while snowshoeing, until the conditions went from fair to bad to worse and a blizzard with white out conditions set in. Needless to say, there was no proposal during the day and we were lucky to make it down the mountain without harm!
Later that evening we were meeting up with friends and Nick suggested going to the bridge to take a look at the water. When Nick suggested a picture, Kalisa's response was: "Are you crazy? It's too cold!" Nick convinced Kalisa to take one, and got down on one knee while our friends Mariah and Tyler took pictures and video. Kalisa said yes!
Pretty much since the beginning, Nick and Kalisa had always planned on starting a family together. In March of 2023 we found out Kalisa was pregnant with a baby girl! In November 2023, we welcomed our daughter, Morgan Kirby Frisk. Morgan joins Bayley (our pup) to complete our family of four...Nick and 3 girls!
