It all started with a little matchmaking by our mutual friend. She’s a family friend of Kamdyn’s and a friend-of-a-friend of mine—and on one random night at the VFW, while we were sipping drinks and making New Year’s Eve plans, she said, “I have someone you have to meet.”Now… I was a bit hesitant (Her taste can be questionable), but when she showed me a picture of him on Snapchat, I was pleasantly surprised—he was actually cute! She snapped a photo of the two of us and sent it his way, telling him to add me. A few days later, he finally did.After a little back-and-forth, we invited him to meet us at the VFW for music and beer. He had just gotten home from a trip to Colorado, so it took a little convincing, but he showed up.December 29th was the night everything changed. The second we met, he just kept staring at me—and I awkwardly blurted out, “Shut the… up!” It was one of those moments you instantly want to rewind. He was this close to heading out, but thankfully, he stayed. That night was full of laughter, dancing, drinks, and a very memorable moment of Kamdyn dancing on the table (yes, really). From that night on, we were pretty much inseparable.We shared our first kiss on New Year’s, spent hours on the phone, and took turns visiting each other every weekend between Nebraska and Kansas. On January 28th, after some very awkward behind-the-scenes advice from my friend Josina, Kamdyn asked me to be his Valentine—then followed it up with, “Will you be my girlfriend?” (Our first kiss is pictured above)Even though we were practically attached at the hip, we didn’t go on our first official “real” date until our 9-month anniversary in October 2024. We spent the day at the Omaha Zoo (which was amazing) and followed it up with my favorite meal—Chipotle—and some post-zoo shopping. It was the best kind of day.The proposal? It was perfectly us. We had just finished dinner and were curled up on the couch, talking about life and the future. Out of nowhere, Kamdyn got down on one knee—literally shaking—and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked I thought he was joking! (I was even trying to pry open his hand to see if there was really a ring.) But it was real, it was sweet, and it was ours.Now we’re counting down the days until we get to celebrate with all of you. We can’t wait to say “I do” with our favorite people by our side!
