Both Kamryn and Tj were on Tinder when fate decided to have a little fun. Kamryn instantly recognized Tj’s profile—she remembered him from high school and had always thought he was cute, even if they’d never actually talked. On a whim, she swiped right, and to her delight, it was a match. From the start, they both knew things could get tricky—Kamryn would be heading back to school soon, meaning any spark between them might have to survive long distance. Still, neither wanted to rush it. They agreed to take things slow, the old-fashioned way, spending time together, laughing, and learning about each other before deciding if what they had was strong enough to last beyond a summer.

How Kamryn and Tj reconnected after high school. 

Tj pulled up to Kamryn’s house in his massive white truck, stepping into her lively, animal-filled home where he spent what felt like forever chatting with her dad, Shane. When they finally headed out for their first date, they landed at Roxanne’s Brick Oven Pizza in Mahwah—a cozy little spot Kamryn had never tried before. From the moment they sat down, everything just clicked. There was no awkward small talk or pretending to be someone they weren’t; just laughter, stories, and genuine conversation about life, dreams, and everything in between. They both ordered appetizers and full meals without hesitation, and by the end of the night, neither had left a crumb behind. Later, Tj would laugh and say that’s when he knew Kamryn was the one—because she didn’t just nibble politely; she enjoyed every bite and still shared the appetizer.

First Date

Tj took Kamryn to the upper lake in Sloatsburg for a day of swimming and fishing. The water was calm, the air was warm, and the two couldn’t stop laughing as they splashed around. Kamryn, who grew up spending summers at Lake George, was no stranger to adventure—or to jumping from high places. So when she spotted a tire swing in the distance, her eyes lit up. Without a second thought, she ran for it, grabbed the rope, and launched herself into the air like she was starring in her own summer movie. Tj watched in shock as she hit the water with a perfect splash, half impressed and half terrified. When she popped back up, grinning from ear to ear, he couldn’t help but laugh in relief—thankful he wouldn’t have to explain to her dad, Shane, how things got out of hand. After drying off and cleaning up, the two wrapped up their night with ice cream at Earnie’s, still teasing each other and replaying the moment that made their summer night unforgettable.
