Derek and I grew up about 30 minutes apart. We both attended Arkansas State University for our undergraduate studies from 2018-2022, but we didn’t officially meet until the last few weeks of our junior year in 2021. Of course, I saw a tall, handsome man that caught my eye, so I had to make a move. He asked me on a breakfast date and we’ve been inseparable since. On June 12th, 2021, Derek decided to make things official by asking me to be his girlfriend. We spent our final year at ASU going on trips, date nights, formals and taking our son, Apollo, on walks.

One year into dating, Derek got accepted to LSU Law. After much thought and consideration, I decided to pack up and go with him to Baton Rouge. We have lived in Louisiana for three years now and have loved our time here. We have met so many amazing people through school and work and have made memories that will last us a lifetime.

On October 19th, 2024, Derek got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so beautiful and special. Of course, we were in Fayetteville, his favorite place (also the place he will drag me to for many football games in the future). It will be a day that I will remember for the rest of my life. We have loved every second of our engagement and wouldn’t change a thing in the world.

We are now planning a wedding while studying for finals and the BAR. We cannot wait to be surrounded by every single one of you on our most special day. We hope to see everyone at The Silos on August 9th!
