It started in the Fall of 2020, when COVID had shut the world down for a few moments.

Peter, the Korean missionary kid from Uganda/Kenya was a sophomore at LeTourneau University, presenting a session introducing the MK group at New Student Orientation. Izzy, the American missionary kid from Indonesia, was an incoming freshman who attended said session. At first, Izzy was just one of the many incoming missionary kids that Peter would connect with and help settle into American college life.

December 2020, Peter went for a short visit to Korea to work out his military service details while Izzy spent her first Christmas break in the States. Having connected over the common experience of being missionary kids during the fall semester and their vision for missions, they texted throughout the winter despite the 14 hour time difference (little did they know they were only practicing for the future). They started dating in January 2021 even before Peter got over his jetlag.

3 years of life that followed included introducing Izzy to RVA-LETU people (thus making her one of us), actively being involved in the MK group (MuKappa), working through hardships such as reading and writing for college, and sharing memorable experiences at Echo Ranch Bible Camp, the two became pretty good friends. Maybe a little more :)

After Peter's graduation in May 2023, he spent a summer in Alaska once again before moving to Korea to serve in the military - as all Korean men do. For the next 21 months, Izzy and Peter worked to keep up their across-the-world-long-distance relationship despite the 14-15 hour time difference. Fortunately, they had practice. Unfortunately, it was still long distance. But they cherished all the sweet moments throughout this season - short cross-continental visits, countless video calls, working on Peter's visa application, and Peter's perfectly planned proposal that did not alter from his plan whatsoever in December 2023.

As Peter finishes his military service in the summer of 2025 and completes his U.S. visa application, he will move back to America and settle in Texas with Izzy for the near future. Only God knows what amazing future he has in store for us!
