Kara & Blake

How It Started
Once upon a time, a girl named Kara was living in a new city all by herself. She worked multiple jobs and was back in school. She wondered how she would ever meet someone with her busy schedule. So she decided to take a chance on the dating apps and see what would come of it. It was 2016 and she swiped right on a boy named Blake. We matched on the dating app which meant we could start messaging one another and that is exactly what we did. We ended up texting each other for two months before we finally went on our first date in person. We met for dinner at Duckworth's, a locally owned North Carolina restaurant. We stayed and talked for about three hours, the conversation flowed and it felt effortless. We were both excited to see where this would go. As the weeks, months and then years went by, we talked everyday and became a couple organically.

The Next Step
In December 2018, we decided to take things to the next level and Blake moved in with me. In May 2019 we moved into a townhome which is where we currently live. We also adopted our first puppy, Leo that year. Needless to say, 2019 was a big year for our relationship.

The Proposal
In 2023, we planned our 2nd annual beach trip to our favorite spot, Topsail Beach. It is a residential beach in a small NC town where we can bring Leo out to surf the waves anytime of day (many NC beaches have restrictions). Anyway, in true Blake fashion he planned on proposing sometime during our vacation, but didn't have any other details figured out. Our trip was planned from Sunday to Friday and it was now Wednesday and he still had not made his move. He was very aware that time was diminishing so he decided Thursday the 29th was going to be the day. Thursday came and it was a beautiful day. We got to the beach mid-morning and after laying out for a bit we decided to go for a walk. Before going, I had to run back to the Airbnb for a bathroom break and Blake stayed on the beach. He had about five minutes to ask some people sitting close by to take pictures for us. He gave them the run down of what was going to take place and of course they agreed. I then came back and we headed out for our walk. I was completely unaware of what was going to happen. So we walked a bit and then turned around and as we approached our spot, Blake popped the question. Although I thought it was a joke at first, I quickly realized this was very real. Of course I said Yes! and our beach audience started clapping and cheering for us! June 29th was the day Blake proposed and it will be our wedding day too. We are so excited for what the future holds!
