Our Story

Kara's Version

All my life I've dreamed of living in a fairytale, but now I don't need to, here's why:

Spring of 2020 I am a typical college freshman. Studying, working, and dating some of Provo’s most unsuitable bachelors. My roommate Erin however, had better friends and invited them over one night. I didn’t know it at that time, but the boy I had been dreaming about my whole life was about to walk through the door. Sadly, I wouldn’t recognize him quite yet.

After a camping trip, more game nights, and a guitar hero session (where I absolutely demolished Kyle) I decided that Kyle was just too nice and I should end things. So I did what any young girl would do, I ghosted him.

I soon forgot about that spring fling and after serving mission it was time to come home and face reality. That meant endless accounting classes and the dreaded dating scene of RM Provo Bros, who had nothing to offer but summer sales experience and a Top Gun wanna-be mustache.

It didn’t take long for me to swear off dating. That was until I got a message from Kyle Conant. Curious about what he wanted in my DMs it was quickly that I realized my mistake of sending him a meme meant entirely for someone else. After a sassy response from him I tried to coupe my losses with some small talk.

As fate would have it, we ended up at another game night 3 years later almost to the day and I thought maybe this was a sign. Getting cold feet before our first official date, I asked him out two days before so that I could rule out any compatibility. Little did I know, Kyle would steal my heart in a matter of minutes without even trying as he lit up the room and my world with his laugh and smile.

It wasn’t long after that day that I knew I couldn't let Kyle go again. After a couple months of dating I told him I thought we should get married and to my surprise he agreed. I am forever grateful for Kyle’s patience and kind character. Kyle surpasses everything I dreamed the man I would marry would be. Nice guys don’t always finish last, sometimes they just finish 3 years later. I’m so excited to spend the rest of forever with Kyle and know our story is nothing short of a real life fairytale.

Kyle's Version

I’m not sure what she said, but let me give you the real story of how we met. So Kara, like many girls their first year of college, wanted nothing more than to catch a total 10… you know a real stud. Naturally however, she decided to look for them in all the wrong places. Till one fateful night, when her roommate felt impressed to throw a game night, destiny (Me) walked through the door looking like a million bucks. Now I’m no telepath, but when our eyes meet, I could swear I heard her heart skip a beat from across the room. After a magical evening of games, only one thing was at the center of her focus… getting this hunk of a man named Kyle to come over again. Her thoughts raced, another party was too much of a crowd and a movie was too forward, how could she get him to come over while not looking too desperate? Then, as I was checking my messages, I noticed an intriguing DM from that gorgeous dime that I had met from the previous night. What could Kara Lynn Scott have wanted?? An evening of romantic guitar hero, where future soulmates could shred their way into each other’s hearts.

Now, again I can only guess, after an incredible evening Kara was conflicted. Though this Kyle fellow was charming and very attractive, she felt that she needed to serve as a missionary before entering into something that was so destined for eternity. Kara knew it would be hard, but she needed to serve the Lord before she could possibly enter into a serious relationship with someone so exemplary as an eternal companion. Kara knew that going on her mission would put their relationship in jeopardy, but she had faith that the lord knew best.

After her hard work and dedicated service, Kara was greatly blessed and saw many fruits from her faithful service. Though, she knew the Lord would provide other candidates for marriage material, she felt a hole in her life that no basic 'ole Provo bro could fill. Now this part seems a little fishy, but apparently as Kara was sharing memes with her colleagues this lead her to “accidentally” send a post to someone she did not expect. Conveniently, I was the lucky recipient of this coincidence, and again my patience and faith were answered in the form of another dm from fate. The next time we met, at another game night, Kara’s heart skipped another beat. One more date was all that took for our love to spread like wild fire.

Now my story might have taken some creative liberties and exaggerations, but one thing is true. Years ago I meet a girl at a game night, and in May of 2023 I fell in love with her. Great things come to those who wait, and I’ll thank God the rest of my life that I had the patience and faith to wait for her to come back. On September 16th my prayer was answered when she agreed to spend the rest of her life with me and on June 12 of this year our story will be sealed in Payson, UT.
