Our Wedding

Tinder and BBQ -our first date was one to remember. After chatting online for a bit we met up in person in downtown Santa Barbara for lunch, followed by a stroll down to the breakwater. Tiny Kara brought Addie, her big drooling hound dog, and Clay brought his barky little yorkie, Chewy. We immediately found humor in the odd couple we made. At first we were both playing it cool but secretly infatuated with each other. That was the summer of 2019, and it was the beginning of our story together. &nbsp;We had some memorable dates before we made it "official," included sneaking into the Bacara Resort hot tubs in just undies, moonlit hot springs dips, and going on a day long adventure to trap a red-tailed hawk for Kara’s falconry. But things grew and the relationship was a wild success. After dating for a year and in the beginning of the pandemic, Kara and Clay moved in together in a tiny cottage in the middle of the woods. I think this cute cottage is where we learned that we truly loved being together. We spent nights cozy in front of the fireplace, days exploring the creeks and rivers or driving down to the beach. Since then, our family has grown with a third dog, two bottle fed lambs, and a variety of chickens. We’ve lived all over Santa Barbara County, and gone through the good times and tough times together, always as a loving team. After five years Clay made finally made the decision to propose and it had to be perfect. It took a couple of months for all the pieces to work and finally Clay got Kara, who is an extreme busy body and planner, to give up a weekend to do "nothing". Clay pretended that they were going on a simple trip to Santa Barbara for burgers, and insisted we walk the dogs first at the breakwater, where we had our first date. Kara was clueless so when Clay got down on one knee she was completely shocked and but overjoyed. She said yes. But the surprised didn’t end there, waiting across the harbor, a dozen of our closest friends stood ready with bottles of champagne to celebrate. It was truly the perfect day. We are so proud to celebrate this moment with you our friends and family. You are all a part of this story in some way and we cannot wait to see you all in May.
