Join us as we adorn the bride and groom with turmeric paste amidst joyous singing and dancing. The ceremony is believed to bring blessings of prosperity, purity, and happiness to the couple's upcoming marriage.

The Sikh wedding ceremony, where the bride and groom will unite their hearts and souls in the Sikh temple ("gurdwara") in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib, the central religious scripture of Sikhism, regarded by Sikhs as the final eternal living Guru following the lineage of the ten human Gurus. 1. The ceremony begins at 10AM with the “Baraat”, the grand entrance of the groom. All guests of the groom’s side surround the groom and dance to vibrant music as we make our way from the parking lot to the gurdwara entrance. 2. Breakfast is served. 3. Assembly in the prayer hall for the marriage ceremony. 4. Lunch and photo opp. Dress code for the Anand Karaj: Colors are encouraged - white and black are associated with funerals. Indian outfits are welcome and western is also acceptable. Dress modestly, i.e. full length dresses that cover at least shoulders and knees. Maxi-dresses are great. Upon entering the gurdwara you’re expected to take off your shoes and socks, and wear a head covering. Men typically wear bandanas, and women scarfs over their heads. You may bring your own, or use our provided colored-coordinated bandanas. If we run out, the gurdwara also has both bandanas and scarfs for your use. In the prayer hall, we sit cross-legged on the floor. So ideally wear something allows you to do that comfortably. If you can’t sit cross legged, sit however you’d like but ensure your feet are not pointed towards the front (fold your legs so feet point backwards). Silence your phones.
