It all started because we swiped right...

Karen & Allen matched on hinge in March of 2021. Allen went to Florida to visit family and didn't message until a couple weeks later when back in NYC. The two texted for weeks and their first date was on April 24, 2021 at Kellara, a Greek Restaurant (Karen's favorite cuisine) in Manhattan. Karen was a little nervous about indoor dining since it was still the pandemic and she only received her first covid shot but felt comfortable since Allen was an ER nurse. Their first date lasted 5 hours and they continued to text for 2 hours after.

Allen lived in Astoria, and Karen lived in the Upper East Side in Manhattan. To Karen, this was a long distance relationship because she would have to leave the island of Manhattan. At that time, Allen worked night shift in the ER so he would try and text her when she was awake. Every morning Karen would wake up to texts from Allen from when he was on break during the wee hours. Since Allen grew up on a farm, Karen gave him the nickname 'Country Boy' and Allen started to call Karen 'Uptown Girl".

They knew they were meant for each other, after one night walking in Astoria. Since they're both kids at heart, Karen ran away to hide in an outdoor dining space to surprise Allen. When Allen turned around and noticed Karen was missing, he also decided to hide in another outdoor dining space a block away to try and surprise Karen. A man walked by and Karen thought it was Allen so she jumped out and scared the stranger. She was so embarrassed when she realized the man wasn't Allen and apologized. While he was walking away Allen then jumped out of his hiding spot and scared the same man as well.

In 2022, Karen and Allen moved in together to their apartment in the Upper East Side with Allen's dogs Si and Klaus.

On January 3, 2024, (3 being Karen's lucky number) Allen proposed to Karen at their favorite French restaurant in NYC. As French restaurants are typically their date night pick.
