Like many love stories these days, ours began on the internet.

I had half-heartedly signed up for Facebook Dating in April 2022, knowing my chances of finding a decent guy there were pretty slim. I made sure to pick very specific parameters; I wasn't going to settle for just anyone. I wanted to date someone who had kids like me so he understood the struggle. He needed to live close by because I wasn't wasting my precious limited time driving everywhere and sitting in traffic. He had to be Christian, educated, and have a good job.

Then one day in June, I was looking through some profiles when a nice-looking guy who lived nearby popped up. He didn't say much in his profile, but mentioned enjoying going to church. I swiped right, assuming I'd probably never hear from him or talk to him for a day or two and then never hear from him again.

To my surprise, he messaged me that evening and quickly asked me out to dinner. I was supposed to go out with a different guy that week, but I wasn't all that excited about it. Matt and I started texting each other and it quickly turned into an all-day conversation.

Neither of us was looking for anything; we were both happy living our lives, being with our kids. But being together felt so easy and natural.
