Truly great things are the product of time. Karina and Adam’s story is no different. And like so many great things, it started out seeming like nothing.

They first met in 2011, while Adam was visiting his sister, who happened to be a good friend of Karina's. They were merely acquaintances for 11 years—just another person met by chance and followed on Instagram. They dated other people. They grew a lot, as people do over the course of an 11-year stretch spanning mid-20s to mid-30s.

Time did its thing: They each learned more about life and love, and what they wanted out of both.

In December 2020, with a global pandemic wreaking havoc on best-laid plans, Karina made the decision to move in with her mom. Her yoga career was reeling from the shut-downs. It felt like a wise move during a particularly challenging season. She posted some of her no-longer needed things on Instagram to sell. Adam sent Karina a direct message asking to purchase a $5 painting. (Karina has yet to receive payment.) And that little nothing, became something.

A few flirtatious conversations ensued. Adam invited Karina over for dinner.

Within weeks, they were head over heels for one another. And in months, it was clear this was forever.

Eighteen months after Adam sent that Instagram DM, he took Karina to the Rock Quarry in Greenville, SC, bought her a large Sidewall pizza, got down on one knee, and proposed.

Her response? YEAH DUH!
