Every good story has a few chapters and our journey to marriage is no exception...

Roy and Karishma's paths first crossed in 2011 when Karishma was just wrapping a summer internship at Box. Roy had just relocated from NYC and traded his job in finance at Jefferies for a gig in tech. The two were introduced and shared a brief lunch as colleagues not really expecting to see each other again...

In the summer of 2012, Karishma ended up back at Box and colleagues once again with Roy where they occasionally overlapped social gatherings. By the time the company holiday party came around, chemistry was bubbling. It's alleged that Karishma (accidentally) made the first move in a story that's a bit foggy and best shared in person.

Over the next few years, Karishma and Roy's relationship blossomed into something both knew was truly special. They made many memories together -- attending music festivals, enjoying San Francisco's "park life", taking road trips to Santa Barbara, and more.

The next few years were full of changes and stretch experiences... Roy moved to Philadelphia to pursue an MBA at Wharton, and Karishma took on a new opportunity at a smaller startup, Slack. Between navigating long distance and crazy travel schedules, they took a break from their relationship to focus on their individual pursuits.... both knowing in the back of their mind their journey wasn't over.

Finally, in early 2018 Roy moved back to San Francisco for good (so he thought) and they found themselves dating back again.... This time committed to make it work no matter the distance. When Karishma took an opportunity to relocate to NYC for work, Roy abandoned his plans to stay in San Francisco and joined her shortly after.

Roy and Karishma knew for a long time they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Roy spent months planning how and where he wanted to propose, and on March 14, 2020 he got down on one knee and asked Karishma to marry him atop a beautiful rooftop in Brooklyn. Though the world threw some curveballs at him in the week leading up to proposing (Tom Hanks announced he had contracted COVID, NBA cancelled their season, NY began shutting down), Roy was determined to make it work.

And so began their life in quarantine... as fiancée and fiancó. <3
