WE:
WE:
WE:
WE:
WE:
KC:
cumplí mi promesa 😉
WE:

WE:
It started with a friendly hello at an art museum and blossomed into something so amazing I often find myself taken back as to how we got here… Let me start at the beginning. Karla was pursuing her master’s degree in Amarillo, Texas (actually Canyon but close) and went to a local art museum for any exhibit one evening. As I was wandering around trying to look cool not knowing anything about art; in walked this beautiful, captivating woman, that had this smile that could make you feel warm all over. As we talked and shared about our grad school experiences and how out of place we often felt in Amarillo being from "real" cities.
KC:
Will is from Dallas, one of the largest cities in Texas and I am from Santa Cruz, the largest city in Bolivia.
WE:
I knew right then that there was something special about her and I had to learn more. We started going to dinner and we would cross paths at the gym in the morning. She didn't know but I started getting much more serious about fitness when I found out she would be there.
KC:
I usually go to the gym between 5 or 5:30 am, so you can imagine the seriousness and commitment that comes with meeting by "chance" at the same time with me (extra points for Will!)
WE:
We would meet at the pool during the summer to catch some rays on the weekend and would go to group events...it became an amazing friendship. Then it happened...it had been happening, but I finally admitted it out loud...I was in love with my best friend. You would have thought this would have been that fairytale moment where I tell her, and she's responds "I know I feel the same way..." That did not happen. In fact, she told me NO when I asked her out and told her how I felt. CRUSHED...DEFEATED...love story over. Or so I thought.
KC:
In my defense, before Will admitted his feelings for me, he had never given me a direct or indirect sign, not a single hint or insinuation. I come from a culture where if someone likes you the signs are obvious! Flowers, compliments, going to the movies etc.
WE:
About a week later we had a friend’s birthday and I was “coming with someone” or so it was told…and it was in that moment Karla realized she had true feelings for her best friend.
KC:
true feelings = jealousy hahaha, when they told me that he was going to the birthday party accompanied by someone I swore it was a woman! and I made a movie in my head! I regretted not having given him a chance, I thought I had lost him forever haha and I even swore in that moment. If his "new relationship" didn't work (which only happened in my head) I would give him a chance .
WE:
I did arrive but with a mutual friend of ours, Ryan, and that very evening she told me. She wanted to give dating a chance, also known as the best day of my life.
KC: I kept my promise 😉
WE:
And that is how we ended up falling in love with our best friends. We are so excited to see what the next chapter of life has for us but I know that I would not want anyone by my side other than this funny, witty, kind of goofy girl that is my best friend and so much more.
KC:
Those who know me know that I am a person who overthinks every decision. But deciding to spend my life with Will was without a doubt the easiest yes, he has the noblest heart I know. It makes me want to be the best version of myself, whether it's at the gym, cooking, or just searching for the best new show on Netflix. I am so lucky to have finally found my person.
