Our story began like any other good romcom or romance novel, an awkward encounter in a public place. We first met at our local library while studying with friends for our history midterm. Although we were both in 9th grade and shared similar circles of friends, we did not know of each other’s existence until that day. That is where we bonded over the mutually painful experience of school testing, and started a wonderful friendship.

We were friends for a few years before we began dating our junior year of high school and were both members of the cross country team. Our story as Karla and Brian really began there. Throughout all the trials and tribulations of our teenage years, our love for one another continued to build. This became even more true when we went on our next adventure together at Rowan University. Throughout each step, we sought each other’s advice, comfort and support even when the semesters had us questioning our sanity. The pressure of added responsibilities did not scare or frighten us. We always had one another at our side, and we recognized how lucky we were through it all to have one another to lean on.

Now, we are incredibly excited to celebrate a love that has been in the making since 2011 with all of you! When we first got engaged we had envisioned a wedding in which both of our families in Mexico and the United States could be in attendance. However, due to the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, which greatly affected our family, we opted to put on hold our dream until the world was in a better place. This was mindful out of respect for our families and those we lost. Instead we opted for a micro-ceremony with a few of our closest family and friends and in the tradition of a civil ceremony followed by a Catholic wedding. Finally, we feel comfortable in doing this for real, and look forward to reciting our vows in the city of Oaxaca with you - our most cherished family and friends. We hope you can join us on the next chapter of our life story.
