The Story of Us

Matthew and Karlee met while working at Camp Pondo in Running Springs, CA in the summer of 2017. During training at the Giant Swing, they were sitting next to each other, unaware of what the future held for the two of them. Matthew picked up a rock and showed Karlee. Look at this cool rock! is the very first thing Matthew ever said to Karlee. That summer, Matthew and Karlee grew closer as friends. Camp rules dictated that nothing romantic could happen. So nothing did. Matthew went back to Florida at the end of the summer. They remained friends. Flash forward to July 5th, 2019 when Karlee received a text message asking for her address. Matthew said he had never written a letter before and wanted to start, so he thought of Karlee when he was trying to figure out who to write to. Matthew and Karlee exchanged letters for months (although Karlee was terrible at replying in a timely matter). In October 2019, Karlee flew to Panama City Beach, Florida to visit her friend Amanda. She invited Matthew to see Zombieland 2 with the two girls. That night, Matthew and Karlee confessed their feelings for one another. They officially started dating on Karlee's 22nd birthday, October 21, 2019. On June 29th, 2020, Karlee, Matthew, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith drove up to Camp Pondo to get away from the California heat, recreate a family photo at the big chair, and hike. Matthew told Karlee he wanted to get a new rock from the Giant Swing. He had Karlee join him while her parents stayed down setting up the tripod for the photo. Karlee was looking for a rock when Matthew said, Look a this cool rock I found!. Karlee turned around to see Matthew on one knee, holding up the coolest rock Karlee has ever seen.

There are several breweries and distilleries as well. Not a drinker? Temecula is centrally located in beautiful Southern California. You could be at the beach one day, the mountains the next, and you can wrap up your trip at Disneyland Resort.

Katie is Karlee’s older sister. She has always been there for her and Karlee couldn’t imagine saying “I do” without her by her side.

Lizzie and Karlee met online through their shared love for Taylor Swift. They met up for karaoke and clicked instantly.

Hillary was Karlee’s roommate and friend in college. They met their sophomore year when Hillary was Karlee’s RA and quickly became friends. Senior year they decided to live together.

Karlee and Jordan met Karlee’s sophomore year of high school in tennis class. Despite the distance now, Jordan has remained one of Karlee’s closest friends.

Karlee and Caitlin also met online through their shared love for Taylor Swift. They met up at a Taylor Swift dance party at the House of Blues, with Lizzie as well.

Groom’s Party

Tyler is Karlee’s brother-in-law and also one of Matt’s first friends at Camp Pondo. Tyler is now a brother to Matthew.

Matt met James at church more than 20 years ago. They have been close friends ever since. Twenty years is plenty of time to compile some really great memories. They are brothers in all but blood. 

James

Matt has known Jacob since he was born. He is James’s brother. Though he is younger than James and Matt, they still have had many years of friendship. He will always be family.

Austin and Matt met at Meridian Woods Church of Christ. They have grown close through their love of videos games (mostly Skyrim). Church activities also played a role in their relationship.

Matt and Devin met at Meridian Woods Church of Christ. He has grown to be a very great friend and a reliable confidant. Devin Kimber will always be 12 years old : ).

Please send all gifts to the address in Florida. This is Matthew’s parent’s house. This will make traveling back to Florida from California incredibly easier on Karlee and Matthew and their families.
